Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries are lighter than other rechargeable batteries and deliver a high open-circuit voltage. Li-ion batteries have between 500 to 1,000 charge cycles and also have a low self-discharge rate. One major advantage of Li-ion batteries is that they do not require maintenance to ensure their performance, such as periodic discharge. They also do not suffer from battery memory effects.
Some applications that use Li-ion batteries are mobile phones and smartphones, laptops and tablets, digital cameras and camcorders, electronic cigarettes, handheld game consoles and flashlights.
