For hands free illumination, choose the Fenix HL series headlamps. This HL10 is the most compact of the series, weighing just 1.59 ounces. When searching for headlamps, we know how important it is to keep the weight off of your head. Its light weight is what makes campers, hikers, utility workers, and coal miners choose Fenix. Using just one single AAA battery, get 70 lumens of output for 50 straight minutes of hands free light. Headlamps are great for night time hiking and in fact, here at Battery Junction, we use them for a variety of applications whether it is searching for something we dropped under the desk, or finding our way to our parked cars after work! On a more serious note, the HL10 provides multiple lighting modes and comes equipped to have the beam tilted to the angle you desire.

Designed for Portability

Fenix left no detail unnoticed when designing the HL10. Avid hikers will tell you that whenever you are on the trail, you need a good and reliable piece of gear for the hours of darkness to keep the trail illuminated. Do you really want to lug around a flashlight in your hand, keeping it constantly pointed ahead of you all the time when you could use your walking stick instead? Neither do we, which is why we love headlamps. Here at Battery Junction, we do a lot of hiking in the Northeast Kingdom, so we know what to expect on the trail. The HL10 fits comfortable on your head as it is light and compact, keeping it from bouncing around awkwardly. This can be attributed to its durable plastic and aluminum alloy construction with Type III hard anodized anti-abrasive finish. Keep the light pointed either straight ahead, up in the sky, or down at the trail as the beam can be tilted 100°.

Superior Technology

Brightness at the Core

Always count of Fenix to provide you with the best CREE LED's inside of their rugged and durable lights. The HL10 has a CREE XP-E LED at its core, which can last up to 50,000 hours. Thanks to superior LED technology, this light can produce a powerful beam from just a tiny lens and a single AAA Ni-MH or alkaline battery. Choose from 70 lumen High mode, 27 lumen Mid mode,, and 3 lumen Low mode for multiple environments and light outputs right for you.

  • Mini light stands upright when removed from case
  • 100 degree tilt mechanism focuses the HL10 where needed
  • Digitally regulated output maintains constant brightness
  • Reverse polarity protection guards against improper battery installation
  • Made of durable plastic and aluminum alloy
  • Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish
  • Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating

  • Runs on: 1 x AAA (Ni-MH or Alkaline) battery (NOT Included)
  • Output/runtime (Ni-MH battery, alkaline battery):
    • High: 70 Lumens/50 min, 35 min
    • Medium: 27 Lumens/2.75 hrs, 2.25 hrs
    • Low: 3 Lumens/27 hrs, 30 hrs
  • Dimensions:
    • Length: 2.7" (69.5mm)

Nice headlamp

Great light. I'm a mechanic and have been looking for a low profile light to use under the car. This light works great.
Small , low profile
Would rather have one click on instead of hold for on and off

Makes a great backup headlamp, or for using around the house
December 5, 2014
The primary benefit of this AAA form factor is diminutive size and low weight. It is also relatively inexpensive. That's why I purchased it, and it works pretty much as expected. Being lightweight, it's very comfortable to wear. Being single cell and self-contained, there's no fussing with battery packs, etc. The TIR optic provides a decent floody beam -- no hotspot, just how I like my headlamps, excellent for up-close work like camp chores and walking familar/level terrain -- and current controlled modes means no PWM. The anodizing is good, the switch feels good, and UI is fine once you get used to it. The mode spacing is decent, though of course I'd have like to have the option of a 4th, higher mode -- even if momentary like the "burst" mode they put on the HL50. I think it's ideal uses are: 1) for use around the house, where the low battery capacity does not matter (use rechargeable NiMH cells obviously) 2) as a backup light when hiking or camping, when it's critical to keep gear weight to a minimum (use L92 lithium cells) 3) in the glovebox, for when you might need to change a tire at night (use L92 lithium cells, and keep a few extras on hand for emergencies) I think the HL10 does these things well, and I was well aware of it's weaknesses before I ordered -- so I'm giving it 4 stars. I do have a few criticisms, however... Fenix, if you're listening... A) The strap/holder does not need the ridiculous plastic thing to cover the light, or even the metal bracket (which grinds against the light when you rotate or remove it from the holder). Just a good strap with an elastic band sewn on that the light can slip into, sized to provide enough compression to keep the light from rotating when you walk. Essentially a Nite Ize headband is all you need. That's what I'm using. Maximize the ultralight benefits, K.I.S.S., etc. Would have saved Fenix a few bucks to do it that way, and they could have put that money toward a... B) XP-G2 NW emitter please. Efficient at low voltage, warmer tint for outdoor activities. C) Fenix needs to anodize the tailcap threads so there's a lockout option. The electronic switch is relatively firm, but that's no guarantee you won't have accidental activation in your pocket. Anodizing the threads isn't hard, and it solves the problem nicely.
Very light, comfortable to wear. Current controlled, no PWM. Good, floody beam profile. Good build quality (as always from Fenix).
The strap/holder arrangement is way more complicated than it needs to be. This headlamp is not a great performer when compared to headlamps that run on higher capacity and higher voltage batteries. It's designed to be light, not bright. Nothing against the XP-E, but let's face it... it's an outdated emitter. Do XP-G2's cost that much more? Since this lamp isn't winning any brightness or runtime contests on a AAA, I would have preferred a neutral white tint. No tailcap lockout.
