Description
This updated version of the LD41 flashlight is an interesting yet sensible approach to flashlight design. Noticeably, the grip is not the traditional circular tube, but retains a rectangular shape to maximize space for four AA batteries. Generate a fantastic amount of lumen output with its CREE LED at the center of it all. You can always count on Fenix to make their flashlights with care and the work ethic of an ox. Keep shining up to 680 lumens of laser like light for hours!

Advanced Lighting Technology

Superior Lumen Output

Thanks to its CREE XM-L2 (U2) LED, this light can blast out an incredible 680 lumens on Turbo, 240 lumens on High, 85 lumens on Mid, and 10 lumens on Low. An additional 680 Strobe mode and an 85 lumen SOS mode for signaling are also included in this sweet little package. What does all this mean? It means you get one versatile and capable flashlight for any situation that demands it whether it be caving, climbing, hiking, or camping.

Functionality

Smart Design

The shape of this updated LD41's grip enables for a more efficient and space-saving battery design that balances the weight proportionally in your hand. An added plus to this unique body shape is the comfort it provides during extended usage. To turn the light on, just hit the larger power switch button. For different brightness levels, lightly press the smaller button below the power button and hold it to change modes. Drop it, drench it, even submerge it in water and it will still work like new as it has earned the IPX-8 dust and waterproof rating.

Great light but not dependable
October 31, 2015
I bought the 680 lumen version at REI. Loved it. Had it for about a month, and used it frequently. Then the mode switch started failing to change modes. Click it a few times, and it would not change modes, but an hour or do later it would. The on/off switch worked fine at all times. REI exchanged it for a brand new one in the box. Took it out to the car, powered it up with my Eneloops, and the mode switch on this new one did not work. Unbelievable. I took it back in the store, and by the time I got to the register, the mode switch was working like it should. We agreed it had sat there in the store for a while, and just needed to be "exercised". Took it home, used it daily, and all was good. Put it in my vehicle, and it sat there for two weeks unused. One morning at my shooting range I pulled it out, turned it on, hit the mode switch to toggle from high to turbo, and again, no change. Fiddled with it and couldn't get the mode to change. Took it back to REI that afternoon, and sure enough, at the register explaining that this was the 2nd one I was returning for the same reason, the mode switch went back to working. Returned it, and gave up on the LD41. I'm a Fenix fan, having 4 of the smaller single AAA, AA, and CR123 lights. They have never given me a problem. Sad because I liked everything about the LD41, the size, shape, versatilty, and the 4 different brightness levels plus strobe and SOS. But I need my lights to work when I want them to, not when they decide to.
Pros:
Size, shape, vesatility.
Cons:
Not relible in mode change, at least the two I had.

Fine AA flashlight
August 17, 2015
This is a very powerful light with extreme throw and great spill. User friendly with 4 brightness settings. It uses four easily accessible AA batteries and is as powerful as many 18650 lights. More powerful than the Fenix e40. The only AA flashlight more powerful that I can think of is the Nitecore EAX Hammer, which is much larger and takes 8 AA batteries as opposed to Fenix 4 AA. I highly recommend this flashlight.
Pros:
Extreme thrower, along with great spill.
Cons:
If using alkalines, could get expensive. Use lithium.

This is our go to flashlight. We keep it right on the counter in the kitchen ready to go at a moments notice. We are the last house on the electric line here in northern Vermont, need I say more!!!!
Pros:
Readily available batteries
