550 Lumens for 1Hr 14Min // Lost for 15 Days in Ice with NTF
March 8, 2015
I really like this light. I tested mine using Duracell Duralock HR6/NiMH 1.2v 2400mAh (Green and Copper) I have not found any other NiMH Battery out there with a higher mAh rating. Walmart sells them and chargers. The light did get very hot but it survived the test. The batteries sat for about 30 min. right out of the charger for this test.
Now a Con followed by a Pro, the clip should not be trusted, (I believe someone else here has also said this) mine came unclipped twice and fell to the ground, but it was my fault that I wasn't clipping it inside my pocket, I find it a bit too large for in pocket carry though. This light does NOT come with any belt pouch.
OK, with that said I want to mention that the 3rd time I dropped this light, coming unclipped from my belt with winter gear on, I was cleaning out my vehicle with about 10 inches of snow on the ground. Well I didnt notice it must have just unclipped and slipped out from under my coat and straight into the 10 inch snow. So, a couple hours later while test driving a vehicle I thought I felt it fall out then, well I searched the vehicle but could not find it and I thought for sure it was in a earlier tested Vehicle.
Any who ,I thought it lost for sure, 15 days later and a couple more snow events with temps down to -4 F ,the snow in my driveway is now 5 inches of ice and a dash of snow. Finally today is the second day of melt and with my hopes of finding it (just maybe in this glacier ) I did another slow walk on the ice, to my dis belief I caught glimpse of something shiny, the bezel ring and reflector.
Oh, I couldn't believe it, I took a couple pics and slowly like an archaeologist I chipped away winters hold around it just enough to actuate the front side button, and ON she came. Outstanding I thought if anything the batteries would have been dead. Well I finished the extraction and promised myself to come up with a better carry method. I am very happy with this light and it using the AA 's matches my GPS and other LED lights that all call for the AA . No need to special pack dedicated batteries for this light.
Pros:Using the batteries I described, I got more then twice the claimed Time ON at 550 Lumen setting, Lights the nearby tree line up quiet well.
Cons:Now a Con ,, the clip should not be trusted, ( I believe someone else here has also said this) mine came un clipped twice and fell to the ground, but my fault that I wasnt clipping it inside my pocket, I find it a bit too large for in pocket carry though. This light does NOT come with any belt pouch.
