PowerTac Cadet - Best Every Day Carry
November 15, 2014
My father bought one 4 years ago at a gun show.
Being in Law Enforcement, I have always been a Streamlight fan carrying SL20 SL20x. I had settled on Streamlight's Protac 2L for a belt carry. Prior I had great little Coast LED Lenser (3AAA) with tight spot.
Never having heard of PowerTac, I was confident my father had got ripped off. Was I ever wrong. I am carrying same one for 4 years. It is either on my belt, in my pocket, beside my bed (with a bright enough light, I don't need reading glasses).
We have bought five in total, keeping backups in glove boxes and bug out bags. We have never experienced any problems.
Some things a potential buyer should expect. The batteries are expensive if you don't have rechargeable or a stock of CR123 batteries. Get caught needing a battery from Wallyworld or a drug store and it is gonna sting. Always keep a spare battery close by.
Because the light is so bright, it will heat up. After it gets too hot, it will have to cool down before coming operational again. It does have lower settings and strobe to compensate for this. This little light is very solid and rugged. It can take abuse.
If I got my pants on, I my PowerTac Cadet is one of the tools I will always have. I hope this has been helpful.
Short, Using only one battery.
Cons:Having to buy CR 123 from Retail Store.
Delay to cool down after extended use on High
When the battery dies, its dead.
