Another Great Surefire product!!
October 10, 2009
I am a soldier currently deployed overseas. I was issued a halogen-bulb surefire by the Army, and while it\'s a great light, the Army isn\'t going to dole out the extra money to get us the LED version of that light, making battery usage a major drain on my personal expenses. Not to mention that the bulb has a burn-time of around 5-sets of batteries. Instead of going with a run-of-the-mill light, I wanted something incredibly bright, but practical. The LX2 Performs, and does it well! The 200-lm \"high\" output mode is intense, has great throw, and a perfect circular \"hotspot\", making it great for checking on suspicious activities, or in my case temporally blinding an opponent. Meanwhile, the \"low\" mode at 15-lm is great for any everyday flashlight use such as hiking, checking under your hood, and anything else that you would normally use a flashlight for around the home, and outdoors. The LED bulb doesn\'t has better battery runtime at 200-lumen (around 1 1/2 to 2 hrs) than my other surefire has at 65-lumen (around 70min), and when it\'s in low power mode, it\'s not only way more functional, I still haven\'t worn-out the batteries I installed 2 weeks ago (My unit sleeps and does prep work during the day, we only do work at night). In two weeks time, I\'m used to changing out batteries at least five times on my issued surefire, and at least once or twice on my other LED light (comparable lumen output to the LX2 in \"low\" mode).... If you add the F04 (beam diffuser) you now have a complete 4-function high-powered hand-held, pocket carry flashlight. Great light, great company!
I would give the LX2 5 stars if not for the price, while it is an incredible light, I\'m not sure the price makes it practical for most people.
