Acebeam H50

Tri-Beam LED Flashlight

The Acebeam H50 is an incredibly bright LED headlamp that features an array of three LEDs of your choice. The LED is available as either extra powerful Samsung, 90 CRI Nichia, or far-throwing Osram. Each H50 model Headlamp features three of the selected LED and can toggled between all-on, sides only and center LED on, allowing for a wide variety of light levels and quality. Each LED array has it's own set of light levels between turbo and moonlight, topping out with the Samsung LED's 2000 Lumens, a shocking amount of light that makes it great for outdoor use.

The lighting unit is controlled by a single, top-mounted switch that is easy to press in the dark or while wearing heavy work gloves. A comfortable and adjustable head strap keeps the light secure at all times and allows for easy hands-free lighting. On top of all that, this light is USB-C rechargeable and can quickly charge an 18650 battery right inside the light.

Acebeam H5 Headlamp_Osram
May 21, 2021
First off let me say I love Acebeam and have several of their lights, and will buy more. Top Shelf. This headlamp with the Osram just doesnt justify the price. The beam is so narrow that at 50 yeards its hard to light up your dog. At 100 yards the 1200 lumes (yes not 2000) is too weak. I use headlamps every day, or night as i should state. I will say if you need a very soft clear light to work at close range then this would work for you. If you need a headlamp that will flood an area around you, and be able to reach out a few hundred yards into the dark then this one comes up short. Got very hot after a few minutes and lost power fast. Price doesnt justify performance, and the 3 light control is a pain. Sometimes Acebeam just does too much of everything all at once. Good looking and quality built light and band, just didnt meet my needs.

Unique and Impressive Product
February 20, 2021
I've received this product and tested it briefly, but not put a lot of time on it yet. This one is the latest in my quest for the ultimate backcountry skiing headlamp. My use puts a high demand on a headlamp. I often end up skiing off a mountain in the dark. Since I'm moving with some speed and often through trees, I need the best. This head lamp shows promise, as it has more through than others, with its lenses. Most high-powered headlamps are too floody. I think it will hold up over the long haul, since it has three high output LED's to share the load.

Nice Light
March 4, 2020
The nichia 219 led is famous for its 90+ cri variants and after reading the flashlight forums for a while, I wanted to see what all the buzz was all about. There are already some decent lights in my drawer from manufacturers like acebeam, nitecore, olight etc. but none have the nichia.

The light itself is very good. I really enjoy the tint. Nice and true illuminated colors they seem to be. White tint. No complaints there as I use this device for everything from doing tasks at night to reading books. There is a definite complaint however with the headband itself. My thought is, "With such a decent light, couldn't acebeam come up with a nicer mechanism to secure the light to the band?" It's basically a piece of rubber with 2 bands on either side that the light slides into. It's difficult to turn the light up or down with one hand as the bands twist when doing so. You have to use 3 fingers of each hand and place them almost perfectly where they need to be on each side to turn the light. Even then, half the time it's crooked (see pictures). 2 fingers of one hand should be able to accomplish this seamlessly. (See the nitecore nu32 for how simple it should be). It's a headlamp after all which assumes it will be dark and you'll need to move it up and down quickly and without a muss.

I'm also not confident the power button spring mechanism will last. I use my headlamps a lot to read, eat etc. and the cheap mechanisms (nu32) seem to fail over and over again. Time will tell if the h50's will hold up though it feels slightly more robust than the nu32's one that I've had to have repaired twice already in 3 years time.

Last but not least, the rubber bands securing the light irritates the skin on my forehead. They are the 2 pieces of rubber on the other side of the cloth band that tough your skin. It's a real nuisance. It makes my skin sore and bothersome. Not sure what the deal is there as I have had no problem with the nu32's band, but it is plastic.

Anyway, to sum it up, making the light rechargeable (without changing batteries), and fixing the headband would make this light truly impressive. I give it 3.75 stars out of 5.

What are the K ratings and CRI for each lamp type? Why does Turbo have a longer run time than High? Is there timed or thermal protection incorporated, with stepdowns?
1 Answer
What is the Kelvin Temp and CRI for each LED type? Samsung is 6500K, Nichia is 5000K and CRI 90, Osram is 6500K. Why does Turbo have a longer run time than High? the output would be stepped down on Turbo mode, so the runtime would be similar as High. Is there timed or thermal protection incorporated, with step-downs? Yes, there is a thermal protection incorporated with step-downs.
