Fenix BC30 Bike Light - 2 x CREE XM-L2 T6 LEDs - Neutral White - 1800 Lumens - Uses 4 x CR123A or 2 x 18650
Ultra-High Intensity Bike LightIntroducing Fenix's brightest LED bike light to date, the BC30, which is able to produce a skin melting 1800 lumens at any instant via the remote pressure switch. Constructed from aero-grade aluminum alloy and plastic, the BC30 is IPX-6 water resistant. That means when you're caught in heavy rain or thick fog, the BC30 will not have a hard time cutting through that. The light can be adjusted between 0-30 degrees horizontally and any way vertically, giving you ultimate control as to what's in front of you. The quick-release mounting system makes attaching and detaching the BC30 a breeze, so you can focus on your ride.
Dual Distance BeamThe BC30 is equipped with not one, but two CREE XM-L2 LEDs that will produce between 100 to 1800 lumens. You can instantly get to the 1800 lumen output by the remote pressure switch, for those dark and unexpected areas. The efficient total reflection lens produces superior beam width while reaching over 170 meters. Utilizing the dual distance beam, the BC30 is perfect for close-in visibility as well as long-range illumination. The full metal housing and unique ribbed shape allows for better heat dissipation and higher reliability, so you are not left stranded somewhere.
Low-Voltage Warning FunctionPowering this extremely bright bike light are either four CR123A batteries or two 18650 cells. The innovative quick-change battery system allows for a fast and easy swap of batteries. No need to worry if the batteries are low while you're out on the road because there is a low voltage warning function that will turn from green to red to remind you replacement. Just keep a couple of extra batteries with you while you are out and about. The BC30 will downshift to a lower brightness level to maintain illumination until the battery power in completely used.

excellent bike light
well i got my first fenix bc30, i went out tonight to test it out. my first impression are; very bright at 1200 lumens and with the burst (1800) mode is a lot brighter. I'm using the new Orbitronic 3500mah 18650 battery with my new bike light. 500 lumens is a great feature to ride the bike at well lit streets.this bc30 has a great and fantastic wide bean pattern and the flood is excellent.i think this fenix bc30 is an excellent bike light, 1200 lumens are enough for a bike light. the box states is a 1800 lumens but those 1800 are only for a short time. i rode the bike for about an hour switching 500 to 1200 lumens battery is still strong. i'm hoping this new orbitronic 3500 batteries last a little longer than the 3400 im hoping about 1hr and 30 minutes. i order spare batteries too
ProsVery bright bike light i like neutral white instead of the cool white. 1200 lumens are enough for my taste
Consnone at all.

Fenix Bike Light BC-30
I use this light for single track mountain biking, after dark. I am entirely pleased with the performance of this light. It has met or exceeded my expectations. I find the beam pattern well suited for my bicycling, the brightness and color suitable (for me) as well. Sorry I don't have beam shots. The first time with this light I used li-ion cells I harvested from an old laptop battery pack. These cells didn't have enough capacity to run the light on turbo, the light stepped down to high after a few minutes. I was still able to ride on high without difficultly. I haven't used the burst mode, the light is real bright, bright enough for me. I have now obtained 3400 mah cells which provide plenty of capacity on turbo. I have not timed the runtime however. I do carry spare cells. Which is one of the main reasons I purchased, right now all the bicycle lights I use are li-ion 18650 cell powered. The light is well made; fit and finish are very good if not real good. This is my first non-budget light. I haven't experienced a high end light to compare fit and finish with, yet. The handle bar mount is real robust it uses a rather long screw to secure it the bar that is my only nit-pick. I would not use this on my helmet it is heavy, bulky, and the beam is best suited on the bar. I use a single li-ion 18650 cell powered light (spot beam) on my helmet. The user interface (UI) is a bit tricky to learn. Changing out the cells is tricky too, there is a stiff o-ring on the cell tray so inserting the tray requires some force which is best done when the light is removed from the handlebar. Button top cells are pesky to remove especially with gloved hands. I recommend (as do the instructions) flat top cells. The highest capacity you can find. You do have to purchase separate cells, and a charger if you do not already have one, so the cost does add up. I like the idea of non- proprietary power source.
ProsHigh output light Beam pattern Self contained no wires Able to replace batteries during rides Solid construction
ConsIf you don't have 18650 cells and charger the "real" cost increases Some 18650 cells (button top) tricky to remove Somewhat heavy on the handle bar

Best Bike Light on Market
This Fenix BC30 Bike Light for handlebars is a must for anyone who bikes at twilight or in the evening hours. It has low (2-5 meters) and high beams (5-30 meters). The light also is useful in daylight hours. It has a remote flasher button which attaches to the handlebar with a strap. The Light is rugged and well made. The mount for the Light goes on tightly, and the Light slides on and off the mount securely in a couple of seconds. Bumps on road pavement or sidewalk ramps do not dislodge it. CAUTION: Do not let the bike tip over and fall when the light is mounted on the bike. The plastic guide on the underside of the Light will break off because it cannot withstand the gravitational force of the light's weight (161 grams, even more with the batteries) ) when the bike hits the ground. Yes, it did happen to me. I bought a replacement because the light with the broken plastic guide had to be returned to the factory in China for repair.
Pros--Lights pavement 30 meters ahead in dark. --Has a remote flasher for daytime alerts to oncoming traffic. --Well made, rugged Light and mount. Withstands pavement and sidewalk bumps. --Easy to slide Light on and off for security.
Cons--Weakest part appears to be the plastic guide attached to the underside of the Light with 4 Phillips screws. The plastic guide will break if your bike tips over when the Light is mounted on the bike because of gravitational force. --The factory is in China. Retailers and distributors do not make repairs. They only replace Lights which don't work out of the box.

Great handle bar light (needs helmet mount option)
Just got the light. I have over a 100 yard range with plenty of side splash. Very good, not a great handle bar light. Would be great to get a helmet mount option and be able to buy just the battery holder for rapid battery changes on the go. With the extra battery holder inside of the light you could change batteries in seconds. Great light you can see plenty of trail with this light.
ProsBright; great white light. long run time at a mere 500 lumens..
Conscould use a helmet mount (and remote battery pack) to get to be a great system for trail riding.

The light is super bright but in a yellowish color. I've been using it for a week in a dry and rainy days and seems well built for that. The extra remote switch is very useful in the road to make a signal. It is a great product and got it on sale. B&H is having a sale right now for this bike light.

Fenix BC30 Bike Light Shines Bright
Attractive little item: powerful and bright. I ride a recumbent trike and mount the light up front where I wouldn't be able to reach the short wired remote control for the burst function so it remains unconnected. Not an issue since the remaining functions are all I need.
ProsSeems very secure in mount yet easily removed for security.

How does this unit recharge?
The 18650 batteries are removable and would need to be charged in a Li-ion charger.
on September 11, 2014
The light uses the popular 18650 li-ion cells, these cells have to be charged in a separate charger. Chargers are available in single, dual, or four cell sizes. I use a four cell charger so I can carry two spares when riding. So in order to use this light you will have to have two 18650 li-ion cells, and a charger.
