It works very well, just as it should. I keep it attached to my dashboard cover so I can find things in my car at night.

I bought this primarily for the clip mount, and to check the necklace for "safe use" by children camping with me.
Both the clip and the necklace appear to be molded from the same, strong, glass-filled polyurethane that is used for the micro lights.
The Photon Micro Light (standard or Freedom) simply and easily snaps into the mount on either the clip or necklace. The clip mount has 3 magnets embedded in the clip base and attaches adequately to a steel surface at any angle. The clip mount also swivels 360 around and 270 up and down on a plastic ball and socket which will likely pop and be snapped back on rather than breaking. The clip's spring is reasonably stiff, and the spring's shaft is a steel pin. Each wing of the upper and lower clip pieces through which the pin is fitted are about 2mm thick. The 'mouth' of the clip pieces are aggressively serrated and curved to conform better to whatever you clip it; if a fabric material, this will clip and hold to it quite well.
The 'necklace' has a similar snap in mount, but is threaded at its rear through a generously thick (and so strong) eyelet with a thin black nylon woven cord. My concern was whether this cord would "break away" if caught. The design of the lanyard has both cord ends passing through a very small plastic tube, and then each cord is knotted separately with an overhand stop knot. In this way the tube, made of a shiny, different plastic, is intended to break in half under stress for safety.
The micro-light is sometimes the only light taken by Thru-Hikers (not something I advise), but should be something taken by everyone camping, hiking, or trekking, and worn around the neck on a lanyard so it is with you always. Add a Fox40 emergency whistle to this and you have two of the four safety essentials that should be carried always. (The other two are a simple NSEW compass and a Swiss Army Knife (Farmer, Camper, or Huntsman recommended). These accessories make the Photon Micro Light and Freedom effective in that role of kit, and the clip adds another level of micro light utility for outdoors use, turning it into a hands-free work area light.
