Brace yourself for the ultimate AA powered search light. This 900 lumen powerhouse runs off of eight AA batteries and features ergonomic machined grips, a simple and effective interface, and the reliability needed for serious search and rescue operations. Nitecore based the EA8 Caveman off of its incredibly popular EA4 Pioneer. The larger, more powerful EA8 features higher run times with the same balanced feel and minimalist style. This light is perfect for keeping around the house or in your trunk in case of emergencies or power outages. The widely available power source makes it an incredibly practical device while its massive outputs make it powerful enough for professional applications. Nitecore also offers the Cave Man with a Neutral Tint LED.

Built Tough

The EA8 is crafted from machined aluminum finished with a hard anodized coating that protects it from scratches and corrosion. A precision "Digital Optics Technology" reflector provides supreme performance in both long-distance throw and peripheral lighting. As always, Nitecore built this light exacting specifications, allowing the light to withstand total submersion in water in accordance with IPX-8 water resistance standards. The interface is a single side-switch that utilizes Nitecore's patented camera-shutter-style action. Pressing the switch half way activates the light and cycles through modes, while full-presses activate the turbo mode instantly. Behind the switch, a blue LED flashes to help find the light in the dark. The blue light also acts as a battery status indicator, flashing quickly as voltage runs low. The EA8 is the ultimate full-sized flashlight, offering the best in practicality and power.

Very Solid and Well-Made
September 7, 2015
This is a repeat buy for me. I screwed up and left batteries in my first one for a long time period; not a good thing; I destroyed it! But I liked it so much, I bit the bullet and bought another one! That should speak volumes!
ProsEven though it's not the brightest you can purchase, it is perfect for my CERT activities with its searing beam.
ConsGetting used to the multi-function control switch can be cumbersome when you don't use the device that much.

Great horse recovery light !
November 24, 2014
My friend who raises horses called and asked for help. It was pitch black and his favorite horse was missing. I grabbed my Olight SR Mini and my Nitecore EA4 and my friend had a Nitecore EA8. We searched for several hours and all lights were super, but for throw distance my lights couldn't match the EA8. The SR Mini has over 3 times the lumens and would light up a large area of pasture and the Nitecore EA4 was very respectable, but the EA8 Caveman was the light that finally found the horse.
ProsLong long throw for AA batteries

Great AA Flashlight!
May 23, 2014
I am very impressed by this AA flashlight. It not only has a very high 460 m throw; but a very usable low; as well.
It can use both 8x AA or it can also use 4x AA, which makes it very versatile.
The user interface takes some practice getting used to it; but once mastered works very well.
I highly recommend the EA8!
ProsAA versatility Very high throw Very usable low. Battery level indicator.
ConsUser interface takes some time to get used to it; but this is not really a con - just a familiarity thing.

A lot of light for the buck
February 9, 2014
I like the moon mode that the EA4 does not have. The hot spot is tighter than the EA4\'s. There is a greenish tint around the hot spot that I think could be reduced or eliminated with an OP reflector. The main downside to my EA8 is that the switch cover material is almost opaque, so the blue LEDs behind the cover can barely be seen, especially in room light. I have an EA8 Neutral Tint where the blue LEDs behind the switch cover are very visible, even in a moderately lit room.

I got this light ealier this week and cannot say how impressed I am with it. I had done research and read some reviews but was still amazed by this relatively small light. It\'s about the same diameter to a 2D maglight but almost a full 3\" shorter.

The light output is PHENOMENAL!! Everybody I\'ve shown this light to has been amazed as well. They can\'t believe that an AA light can produce these results.
