Nitecore TIP LED Keylight

Powerful Pint-Sized Illuminator!

Potent power in the palm of your hand, the Nitecore TIP LED Keylight is one of the brightest, most sophisticated pocket-sized lights on the market! Less than 3 inches in length and weighing under an ounce, this compact light uses its powerful CREE XP-G2 S3 LED to generate an astounding 360 Lumens that can throw as far as 74 meters - more than enough illumination for most every day lighting needs. In addition to its max output, the TIP comes with three dimmer outputs ranging from 150 Lumens all the way down to just 1 Lumen, fitting the lighting needs for a wide range of situations, from taking a late-night walk to simply marking your location. The innovative light uses a simple dual switch interface, featuring a power switch for turning the light on and off and a mode switch to cycle between outputs, making one-handed operation quick and easy.

Internally Rechargeable!

One of the TIP's most useful features is its special internal Li-ion battery pack, which can hold a charge of up to 500 mAh. The battery pack can be quickly recharged via the keylight's convenient micro-USB charging port, located on the side of the light. This allows the user to easily restore the battery's charge from any USB outlet, whether it be in their computer, wall mount, or 12V car adapter, letting you charge it anywhere you go!

Copious Colors!

Choose the color that fits you best! In addition to its abundance of impressive features, the Nitecore TIP is available with 7 different colors for its durable aluminum body: Black, Gray, Silver, Red, Green, Blue, and Gold. Whether you're trying to match it with your keychain or simply choosing your favorite color, the TIP has the options to bring a personal touch to your new illuminator.

Features:

  • Body made from sturdy aluminum alloy with a HA-III hard-anodized finish
  • Integrated Digital Optic Technology (PDOT) allows for extreme reflector performance
  • Internal 500 mAh Li-Ion battery pack can be recharged via micro-USB charging port on side of light
    • Note: The Nitecore TIP does NOT come with a micro-USB cable. Cable must be purchased separately.
  • Easy-to-use dual body switch interface for simple one-handed operation
    • Power Switch - Used to power light on and off. With TIP turned OFF, press and hold for direct access to Low Mode (1 Lumen)
    • Mode Switch - Used to switch between the light's 4 outputs. With TIP turned OFF, press and hold for direct access to Turbo Mode (360 Lumens)
  • Mode switch doubles as a power indicator, flashing to indicate the remaining battery power
  • Intelligent memory function remembers last mode used
  • Holding both switches engages lock-out function, which prevents light from accidentally being turned on
  • Rear suspension ring can sustain to 66 lbs. (20 kg) of weight
  • Advanced Temperature Regulation (ATR) technology helps regulate the light's output and prevent overheating
  • Available in 7 Colors: Black, Gray, Silver, Red, Green, Blue, and Gold
  • Included Accessories:
    • 1 x Key Ring

Amazingly bright pocket light - microUSB charging is a nice plus, runs a long time on a charge.
I ordered two of these an unfortunately, one stopped working after only one week. Battery Junction Customer Service is replacing the failed one. I still give it 5 star. While an early failure might put some off, in my experience, Nitecore lights are highly reliable and to make a call on a sample size of two would be irresponsible. I have so many lights (tending toward addict) but this one light is my first choice for most needs. The two button interface is ideal; One button for On/Off and the other cycles through low, medium and high. Thank you Nitecore for leaving out the Strobe, SOS and other annoying "features". It is remarkably small, thin and appears to be ruggedly constructed. The choice in colors is especially nice when more than one of these is in the home. Mine is metallic blue, my wife's is metallic ruby-red, and I'm am well advised to keep my hands off hers. It comes with two attachment rings so it fits/pivots nicely on a keychain.
ProsSee comments above. I would be remiss to not repeat my praise of Battery Junction Customer Service... Excellent!
ConsAs I said, one failed within a week of use but Battery Junction Customer Service took care of a replacement with no hassles whatsoever.

Good for GF's EDC
I bought the grey model for my lady's key chain. She complains about bulkiness when it comes to her everyday wear, so I found this to be the perfect size for her. There are others on the market in the same size range, but aren't anywhere near bright enough for EDC use (except for the Surefire Sidekick, which is actually bigger in comparison and much pricier). Even though the battery life is kind of short, it doesn't have to be that much longer for her purposes of walking to the car at night. Plus, the blinking low battery indicator lets her know when to plug it in so she doesn't have to remember the last time she charged it. I'm a color temperature-Nazi, and this light is pretty close to 4500-5000k in my eye based on the little I played with it. It's much like any other "neutral, but not high-CRI" Cree lamp out there. Decent spill, with a wide but soft hot spot.

So far a nice bang for the buck
Got this thing a little while back (I'll say maybe a month, month and a half). I was looking for a new keychain light after my Fenix died on me. I was looking for about the same price range (20 30 bucks) so looking at this one, and given Nitecore's track record (which is pretty good), I took the plunge with this one. I was looking for something maybe about 100 lumens top end give or take, but of course, with the numbers this one has, I started salavating naturally. So I took the plunge (and thank you Battery Junction for stellar service as always. Fast accurate shipping, and also thank you for answering all my questions. Your staff is very courteous and knowledgeable. That's why I'm always a return customer Anyway, I pulled it out of the box, and threw it on my keychain, and started playing around with it a little bit. Just random testing around the house. I found the interface very intuitive to use. Only took me about 5 minutes to figure out how it behaved. Normally, the regular modes are enough for me to use with the light (low, medium and High). Don't really have a need for the turbo mode, but it's a nice feature to have. And it's executed quite well with the second button. Just press and hold for a bit, and it cranks up like a flame thrower. It is damn bright. I was able to clearly see the leaves in the trees from my front door (which as a guestemate, is aprox 120 feet or so from my front door). Even with the high mode, you can light up that distance pretty well. Has a nice throw with an even flood to either side. Very very handy to have. I hooked it up to a USB charger (just a normal Samsung phone adapter. It wasn't really dead at that point, but again just wanted to test it out. I guess there was a good amount of juice on the battery, but nevertheless, it took maybe a half hour for it to top off). Another feature I love is the light indicators. Blinking red while charging, and solid green when it's done charging. As of this writing, I haven't had to charge it since that one time. So far as carrying it around, it's proven very durable. To preface the durability, i have the light on a keyring with my house key, car key and an Atwood Prybaby. I usually wear cargo shorts (not too loose), and jeans that fit normally. I usually have a knife, gum, and maybe a small pocket flashlight (Olight s10 baton) as part of my EDC gear. I've seen a review about the light getting turned on accidentally (which led to the reviewer returning the light, so I wanted to see how it would function using my own EDC stuff, hence why I mentioned what I always have on me on a daily basis) Anyway, carrying it day in and day out, I've only had the light turn on accidentally twice. I usually have it on the low setting as a default, so no biggie if it would totally drain. But I guess I caught it in time. Both instances that the light turned on was when I was lying down on my side that I had the keys on. But other than those two times, I've carried this thing in my pocket extensively with other stuff in my pocket, and no accidental discharges lol. With that being said, and to be fair about it, the gent in the video review I watched seemed to have a boatload more of keys on his ring, so it's certainly possible the weight of the keys might have caused the light to turn on unwittingly. It's just a theory, ymmv. Other than that, it's been a solid light. no problems, very durable. There's a little bit of wear near the underside of the light near the middle, but you can barely see it unless you look close (a couple of caveats: I don't carry my stuff to look all pretty, but I bring it up because some do, and also I got the silver colored light, and my expierience with it with other items is it hides wear pretty well. So if you're big on good looks, I'd say get the silver one, and shy away from the other colors...although I'm not sure how it's annodized, so I could be way off on it. Bottom line, this one's a winner.......I reccomend highly
ProsVery well built, solid, but not heavy or cumbersome Power buttons are very ergonomic, and easy to index Lens is recessed into the body, so would make it difficult to scratch or break if the light were dropped Easy to toggle between modes, and easy to activate the turbo mode with the second button Good battery life so far
ConsOnly thing I can think of is when you turn off the turbo mode. when that mode is turned off, the light reverts back to low level, and you have to turn the light off with the regular power switch. I tried with both buttons, and it's the same result. Mind you, it's not a big deal to me to be honest, as I think the functionality is superb regardless, but maybe just a minor tweak Nitecore could look into with future generations

the sun in a small package
This keylight is a pocket rocket, Imagine a light that will preserve your night vision in moonlight mode for over two days, mid mode for six and a half half hours, high mode for one and a half hours and light up an entire room in turbo 360 lumens mode.....Well NITECORE TIP is that light ...and all this from a 500 mah LI_ION BATTERY !
ProsQuality metal construction,360 lumens in turbo,USB charging port (wish it had a rubber or silicone plug) dual modes for brightness, memory function, advanced temp regulation, mil spec HA 111 anodized coating, and in turbo a increadable 74 yard beam distance,
Conswish the usb charging port had a weather plug (my only complaint because, water, dirt, dust, pocket lint, etc, find a way in)

Lasted about a year
Keychain lights take a beating, so I guess I should be happy that I got about one year of service out of this one before it suddenly stopped working. I'm back on this site to find a replacement. Hope the technology has continued to improve. It doesn't look like this particular product has changed though.
ProsOn the plus side, it was the brightest keychain light I've ever had, and I do try always to own the brightest one I can find.
Cons- The anodized surface color scratched off rapidly due to being in constant contact with a bunch of metal keys. - Occasionally, the light would turn on in my pocket if I carried my key ring there. - It did not have any kind of strobe function.

Nice form factor & features
The size and shape of this light is perfect for attaching a lanyard and wearing around my neck so I always have a light when needed. Good variety of brightness levels and memory of last setting are appreciated. Ability to recharge by plugging it in and locking out button activation are too.

A great EDC light if it didn't illuminate your pocket so often.
This is a very lightweight and compact light with excellent light output. USB charging is a great feature. However, it turns on in my pocket several times per week. This drains the battery, making it far less reliable and useful. Indoors, either I or someone nearby usually notices my glowing pocket fairly quickly, saving the charge. However, outdoors on a sunny day it can go unnoticed until I pull it out that evening to use it, only to discover a dim or dead flashlight.
ProsBright, compact, lightweight, and USB rechargeable.
ConsUnreliable due to pocket illumination caused by poorly thought-out switch.

Neat Light, But With Problems
I've had 3 of these, and I'm down to one left working. Two have failed. Another issue is that the button is easily activated in your pocket, which makes for a nice pocket warmer. However, it runs the battery down. Other than that, the remaining working light I have is outstanding. it is nice and bright and the battery life is good. The size is perfect. Battery Junction's customer service is outstanding, by the way.

Amazing Keylight
I have purchased many Nightcore Tube lights, and given them as gifts. Everybody loves them. Mine has even survived going through the washing machine! Now Nightcore has really outdone themselves. This little light is extremely bright and I love the 'lockout' feature so it doesn't come on in my pocket. The old Tube light puts out 40 lumens which in darkness puts out a great deal of light. The TIP lists at 360 lumens, and I'm pretty sure it's close to that. Though it's a bit pricey, you really do get what you pay for. My first Surefire flashlight (several years ago) was an eyeball burner at 60 lumens, and was good for a whopping 20 minutes. Now with a tiny light that easily fits into my pocket, I have a light that is 5 or 6 times as bright as the old Surefire, and lasts a lot longer before needing a charge. Of course I have other bigger lights with about 3000 lumens, but nothing this small with proportional power. For a great EDC light, I don't think this can be beat. I got the red one, and its aluminum case can rattle around in my pocket all day without cracking. Do yourself a favor and try this (be sure to read the directions).
ProsTough case, very bright light, nice to have a meter letting you know the charge status, looks cool, lock-out feature so it doesn't accidentally come on in your pocket, 5 year warranty.
ConsHard to find any cons...maybe the price.

A Comparison to the 2017 Version
This is a great light. Multiple modes, very bright, good battery life, battery indicator. It sits well on the keychain or in the pocket. I do want to do a quick comparison to the 2017 version, however. I actually like this version better. It has a built in lock out. Press and hold both buttons and the light is in lockout mode. The 2017 version does not have this option. You can put the pocket clip over the buttons for the "lockout" but you then have to move the clip to get to the buttons. Also, the daily vs constant mode on the 2017 version does not really work well to compensate for lack of a true lockout. If you are deciding between this version and the 2017 version, I would recommend this one.

Perfect for keychain
Great function with excellent selection of brightness levels. Turbo in BRIGHT. A lot of light in a small package. Because the control buttons stick up, you can potentially turn on the light in your pocket by pressing against them. However the lock out feature works great to prevent that if it become an issue.
ProsQuality seem very good.

Good light, bad switches
As others have said, it's bright, and it lasts pretty well on a charge. However, after about a month of carrying, the buttons became very difficult to operate, requiring several attempts. Also, when carrying it in my pocket, the light often came on accidentally due to there not being a lockout for the buttons. This meant that the battery was often depleted when I needed light the most. Lastly, it stopped taking a charge after less than two months. I don't know whether the LED burned out or the battery has an issue. All in all, it is not rugged enough for normal daily carry in a pocket on a key chain. If you keep it in a drawer, it will probably be fine.
ProsBright, compact, easy to charge.
ConsSwitches are not durable, too easy to activate on accident, draining the battery. Short overall life.

Battery charge retention is very good.
When these first came out some folks complained that the lockout feature would eat up the battery life. Not any longer! I had one that seemed to run out of power to often because it was left in lockout mode. I sent it back. Nitecore sent me the newest version. It works super. Very nice light with no noticeable loss of battery power when the unit is left in lockout mode. I highly recommend the light.

Amazingly small and bright
I normally carry a flashlight with me. I wanted something on my Keychain to help when the wife forgets to turn on the outside light looking for my keys and finding the key hole. Then I get an email from Battery Junction. Bang. Here it is. Nitecore TIP 360 lumens USB charging on my Keychain. And at a sale price. It was a no Brainer. Couldn't be more happy with the performance. I feel ok to leave my EDC and rely on the TIP. It's bright enough for almost every application. Do I really need 900 lumens in my pocket. Not really. The nitecore is fine. Rugged good looking in red. It's all I need. And so small. 10+ rating.

/I just bought 6 of these flashlights for my family. It lights up the whole kitchen which is 35x11 feet. For $23 bucks, it is as bright as some of my more expensive lights. It is small and easy to hold. I bought different colors for everyone so no one fights over whose it is.

Bright & Slight ... no batteries required ever!
I was so impressed I bought a multiple color 4 pack for every belt loop in the family! Perfect to attach using a small s-biner hook for convenience to hook & unhook. My husband loves the one on his keychain, great for his work as a mobility chair repair teck. It doesn't get more handy than that, his customers always ask him about it! Max 360 lumens for such a tiny little sturdy light, amazing! He liked that it was made of metal rather than plastic. Highly recommended! A plus that you can lock it out if needed so it won't turn on. Also like how you can check the charge life with a quick touch. Indicator charging light colors are very helpful too. My new favorite!!!
