Niteye MSA20 LED Flashlight - 300 Lumens - Uses 2 x AA
The Niteye MSA20 is a unique everyday carry flashlight. Its compact size allows it to be taken anywhere and its innovative interface truly sets it apart from the pack. Powered by two AA batteries, the MSA20 generates 300 lumens with its advanced XM-L U2 LED. The light is activated using the tail switch and modes are selected by rotating the magnetic control ring, also located at the tail. Modes include a high mode, a strobe mode, and a user-defined low setting. To select your desired low output, set the ring to the low position and press-and-hold the tail switch. Once the switch is held for more than a second, the output will grow and dim alternately, allowing you to stop the dimming at the exact output you're looking for. The ability to customize your low setting adds a level of versatility to the MSA20 that is lacking in other devices. You can choose to have an ultra-low lumen setting ideal for map reading, or a more mid-range output more suitable to searching through a tent or confined space. The MSA20 is built from tough aluminum components and features O-ring sealed parts that are resistant to water, dirt, and dust. An red/green LED power indicator on the tail switch keeps you informed of your battery life.

good basic light
Good basic light for someone who is NOT a flashaholic. Plenty bright for mulling around during a power outage or when camping overnight. Power levels are useful and accessible with unique rotary tail switch. Many of the reviews were negative, but I haven't had the problems they had.
Prosuseful and accessible light levels. Easy to use, especially for the elderly or those who may have trouble holding or operating lights due to arthritis. easy to find batteries
Conscost (definitely better lights at suggested price ($90 ??!?!). If purchased on sale...its worth it (I bought mine during Black Friday $20)

I purchased two of these units and complained about them in good time. They never work. Both units drain the batteries for no reason. Very disappointed will not take any more chances with this brand. Would have returened them, but the packages got messed up, lucky break. But, I sure like my SUREFIRES!!!
ConsBatteries always dead... drained. Do not bet you life on this one> There is no choice for zero in the star rating, so I guess I'll pick one.

Light quit after a couple uses
Worked great twice. Won't turn on now. Changed batteries, checked caps, etc, nothing.

I recieved one of these for Christmas, a really nice flash light. But mine turns itself on and runs the batteries dead over night. Really nice light but you have to put batteries in it every time you need it. It now live in a desk drawer, without batteries, probably never to get used because when I need alight I'll probably grab something else.
Cons eats batteries.

I bought the MSA20 during a black Friday sale, great value. My only AA flashlight and I like the controls. About the only one of my lights that my wife will use since the others are so bright or complicated to control.

Brightest flashlight I've ever had!
I bought one for myself and love it. I've since bought and received in four days, two more. These little flashlights are 300 lumens. Most folks don't even know what that means. A standard 2 D cell flashlight is about 17 lumens, so you can see the difference in the numbers. No one can beat the price of BJ for this light. You'll spend over twice the amount buying this light anywhere else.
ProsCompact, no special batteries needed, three position switch, brightest light for a little flashlight. Best price out there.
ConsWould like to have a canvas belt holder available for it>

I bought this for daily carry hoping it would provide a strong beam. This is in no way 300 lumens. It is about half as bright as my Streamlight Poly Tacs at 200 lumens. There are no instructions included though with some playing around I was able to figure it out. The clip is an absolute joke. Thin and weak and does not wrap around the flashlight far enough for a secure hold. If I hadn't gotten this on a great sale it would be returned
ProsNice machining Nice finish Beam is nice and consistent edge to edge
ConsBeam is about 100 lumens compared to Streamlight Poly Tacs (CR123) Clip is basically useless

Worthy Companion to MSA10
I already own the MSA10, which is an excellent and useful output indoor/outdoor flashlight. The MSA20 appears identical, but has an extended body to handle two AA batteries. Rotary switch allows easy access to all modes including the firefly off-mode that disables the stainless on/off switch and provides visual confirmation of battery status. The user-defined low mode is appreciated and very useful.
ProsBuild quality, durable construction, not bulky thus easy to carry and store, output beam is great for general use.
ConsMSA20 unfortunately does not accept use of rechargeable 14500 batteries which the MSA10 accepts and is fully functional. A holster or carrying case would be useful for protection.
