Slim, adjustable and affordable, the Olight H05S is a high quality headlamp that is a great tool for hands free lighting. The H05S features a powerful CREE XM-L2 LED that produces 180 Lumens of cool white light. An integrated TIR lens smooths the beam for excellent area lighting, and is great for use indoors or outdoors. This headlamp features 3 distinct lighting levels, as well as a red utility mode for discreet illumination. Powered by just two AAA sized batteries, the H05S is a low cost but high power utility that you'd be crazy to pass up!

Along with adjustable brightness levels, the angle of the H05S can also be modified to suit your specific needs. The lighting unit mounted on a comfort minded head strap can be angled at 0, 15, 30 or 35 degrees. For a true hands free experience, the headlamp can be changed from switch to wave mode that allows you to motion activate the light. Excellent headlamp

I used this headlamp on a night time exercise in Idaho. It worked great. The wave feature allowed me to turn on and turn off the light with ease. It was very helpful, especially when I was trying to write.

great lightweight headlamp

I had been looking for a quality light weight headlamp to carry while backpacking. I have previously bought light weight flashlights made by Olight and found them to be of good quality. This headlamp also looks to be of good quality.

It has a mode in which you wave a hand in front of it to turn it on and off. I found this to be irritating as I would wave a hand inadvertently and turn it on or off. Thankfully, this mode can be left off, although I would have preferred not to have this feature at all.

Pros
  • 3 light levels in white light and no flashing modes. To me flashing modes in white are useless.
  • comes with 2 lithium ion batteries for weight savings and longer battery life
  • light weight and compact
Cons
  • The red leds are not very strong.
  • The switching could perhaps be more intuitive. It uses a combination of single clicks, double clicks and long clicks on the single switch to switch between the various modes. I probably dont have to save the instructions, but have to fiddle with it each time I use it to get it straight.

Great performance, average build quality.

The headlamp performs very well. The beam pattern is very useful and it has good brightness for 2 AAA batteries. However, the seal of the light is questionable. The body of the headlamp is a clam shell design which opens up by splitting in half to access the battery compartment. When closing my headlamp, the latch feels weak and the snap of the latch is soft. This does not give me confidence in its strength and sealing ability, even though it is only rated at IPX4. The headband for the lamp is also a little small (short). I have to extend it nearly all of the way out to fit my head. I have an average sized head. Still gave it 4 stars because the lamp performance and feartures are very good.

not working right

I planned on using this light at work but it didn't last much . In the first day started to turn of and two red blinking lights would come on .... First I thought that it could be the batteries so I replaced them, but then again it would come on for a little while and the red lights again. So, at this time I don't know what is going on, but I know that I paid too much for a light that doesn't last it's first day...

well made, very bright headlamp with advantage of using readily available AAA batteries.

  • uses AAA batteries, good balance of size and brightness

  • a third over the top of head strap would make it more secure, perhaps a bit more comfortable
