Olight S10R Baton II LED Flashlight

Powerful Output, Plentiful Options

Incredibly compact and deceptively powerful, the S10R Baton II LED Flashlight is one of the most useful rechargeable flashlights for its size on the market. Using just a single CR123A or RCR123A (16340) battery, the second generation of the S10R Baton is able to provide up to 500 Lumens of brilliant illumination with a peak beam distance of up to 105 meters. In order to prevent overheating of the light and maximizing usage, the S10R takes precautions while on its "High Setting" by gently lowering the brightness to 60% capacity (300 Lumens) automatically after 4 minutes of use. The light also features 3 lower brightness settings of a moderate 100 Lumens, a dim 5 Lumens, and a Moonlight Setting of just 0.5 Lumens which can last for up to 168 hours of constant use on a single charge. The S10R also features a strobe function that flashes at a frequency of 10 HZ to be used as a beacon or to be used to disorient a target. All options can be easily cycled through using the simple-to-use side switch located on the body.

Durable Design, Favorable Features

The S10R Baton II's design is made to be exceedingly advantageous for its user. At just 2.89 inches in length and weighing less than 2 ounces (excluding battery), the compact flashlight is convenient to carry just about anywhere. Its hard-anodized aircraft-grade aluminum body and tough ultra-clear tempered glass lens make the S10R very durable, impact resistant from up to 1.5 meters as well as waterproof and submersible up to 1 meter underwater. The tiny illuminator is internally rechargeable using the included RCR123A specially designed charging dock, which even includes an additional USB output so you can charge your mobile devices as you charge your flashlight. The S10R will even let you know when it is time to recharge with its Red LED power indicator located in the center of its side switch. You can even operate your Baton II hands-free by attaching its strong magnetic tailcap to any metal surface to provide yourself with a stationary light source.

Olight S10R ll
January 15, 2017
I have been buying high end flash lights for 25 years. I could bore you with the long list of lights I bought, to impress and give credibility to readers. The strength of the S10R is the small size, bright light, side button operation that has never turned on in my pocket, and magnet in the tail cap. The weak part; not the best light for blinding an opponent . It is not easy to bring up the strobe function with out going through other lit operations. This has been me favorite EDC light for over a year.
Pros
  • Small size, bright light, side button operation, single cr123a battery, tail cap magnet
Cons
  • hard to bring up strobe function

Excellent light, about 2.5 inches long

500 lumens is very bright for a light that size. Convenience of a magnetic recharge makes it a great every day companion.. Takes less room than my knife in my other pocekt but clips in just like a knife. Run this on medium and it will last you all night. hit it up to high and you can really see for something the size of your thumb. Great service, Battery Junction is for real!
Pros
  • Great light! High is good for finding out what the dog is barking at in the dark or looking for the "other" trail. Medium is all you want to be looking down into your radiator or something. Small and powerful. You can spin the pocket clip over the button so you cant turn it on accidentally or you can just unscrew it barely and it cant turn on accidentally. Runs a long time in intermittent use.
Cons
  • Needs its specific charger but you can get portable magnetic cords now from Olight that have a mag like a triple thick nickel and the usb for cordage as well. Can't really say much bad. I'm pretty happy with it.

(Tentatively) My New EDC Light
June 19, 2016
With a 500 lm max output, and a judicious selection of medium (100 lm) and low output modes (0.5 and 5 lm), and a super-convenient means for regular in-use recharge, this light seems a natural choice for my new EDC light. Though I much like the design of the charge bay, and wish that more high-end light mfrs would adopt similar strategies, I'm not sanguine about the gel-adhesive patch that is included to affix the charge base to a surface. I elected not to use it - the base seems sufficiently stable under its own weight anyway. I also realize that not everyone appreciates the inclusion of a bright strobe mode in their EDC light. However, I have found it to be a simple-but-effective non-lethal defense tool for night use. I must admit to having some concern about several reports that I've read describing sudden, dramatic failures of this light in what should be the early phase of its operational life. Uncannily, all allegedly occurred after the 30-day warranty period had expired. Naturally, such failures are possible with any hi-tech light, but I've owned several Olights for many years with zero operational failures. Since I truly enjoy carrying & using this light, I'm fervently hoping that these reports represent statistical outliers (anomalies). If not, I'll return to report about my experience here, and will adjust my review accordingly.
Pros
  • Generally well-thought range of output modes
  • Excellent & convenient in-use recharge capability
  • Intuitive mode selection
  • Convenient flat magnetic tail-cap
  • Reasonable efficiency & run-time
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Wish that a nylon belt holster had been included.
  • Probably unnecessary and essentially redundant to have both 5 lm and 0.5 lm LOW output modes

Like this light!
October 25, 2017
I like this little light for several reasons.

It is small and lightweight, but has a good feel to it--it feels well made. The lanyard/wrist strap is very necessary though due to the small size. The recharging method is unique compared to the rest of my lights and I like the way it sits on the base.

The light is bright! I've used it in all the modes and find low and medium to be useful for most tasks.

I see the light has been discontinued, and that makes me sad. I have enjoyed using mine a lot.

My First (and possibly last) Olight
January 30, 2017
I wanted to like this light - I really did. Up until now, every other light I have is either a Fenix or a Streamlight. I had done a bunch of research on this light before buying it, and had seen the reviews where people said that the light dies out of nowhere, for no good reason. Every product has a few bad ones in a production run, what are the odds? Seems like they are pretty good. I purchased the Olight S10 Baton on November 29th - great deal and good shipping on Battery Junction's part. The light was intended as a weekend EDC due to it's small size and high output. Since I received it, it's been in my pocket maybe a dozen times at best, and taken out for use a fraction of that. Yesterday, 2 months to the day I placed the order, I grabbed it to look for something behind the couch - not a life or death situation, but still - the slightest little jiggle of light in my hand caused it to go immediately dim, the eventually go out. Tipping it up for a second to see if the LED had shorted or something only caused me to take 500 lumens to the face . . . for a half second, before it dimmed again. Thinking it might be the battery, even though I had charged it the day before, I popped it on the charger - light immediately went green. So, I picked it back up, clicked it on and pointed at the wall at the 100 lumen setting for a good 10 or 15 seconds - no issues. Turning the light to shine it on the other wall caused it to go dim again - not like it was defaulting to the moonlight setting, just dimming to go out.

I checked all of the sections that screw together to make sure everything was tight, which it was - no luck at all.

Less than two months for a light billed as "heavy duty". Maybe if I was dragging it around collapsed buildings looking for survivors for those two months, I could see it crapping out. I was looking for my kid's Nerf bullet behind the couch . . once.

I have since contacted Olight to see what they are willing to do about it, and will gladly update this review when they make it right. If not, I guess it's back to Fenix.
Pros
  • Good price and fast shipping from Battery Junction.
Cons
  • Light lasted barely lasted two months.
