Beautifully Finished Warm Output Light With Several Battery Options
The Olight S15-Ti Baton Polished Titanium LED Flashlight is an elegantly designed, beautifully finished light that has the capability to utilize either one or two (with the included extension) common AA batteries (either NiMH rechargeable or alkaline types). While the luminous output is not as prodigious as the newer Baton S1-Ti (280 lumens vs. 480 lumens for the Baton S1-Ti), I found it to be sufficient for most daily use applications. The color-balance of the output is significantly warmer than most contemporary LED lights, which was, to me, a welcome variation. The controls are reasonably intuitive, with a comprehensive range of selectable outputs including 0.3, 7, 80, and 260 lumens, and a strobe mode. However, having both a 0.3 and 7 lumen mode seems somewhat superfluous - a single 7 lumen, low-output, long-duration mode, would, at 40 hrs service, seem sufficient. Some other reviewers have criticized the ease with which the switch on this light may be inadvertently activated. While I agree with this assessment, I feel this drawback can be reliably managed through habitual use of the lockout function. The Olight S15-Ti Baton Polished Titanium LED Flashlight is notably more expensive than other lights in the same size & power class, but, in my opinion, the cost of the titanium, and the relative difficulty in machining & processing it, adequately justifies the cost difference. The magnetic flat tail cap offers additional functionality, should you wish to attach the light to a ferrous metal surface, or attach a diffuser to it and use it as an emergency lantern. This is an all-around excellent light that I hope to enjoy carrying and using regularly for a very long time.

I like this flashlight a lot. The magnet is super powerful and the fit and finish is superior. I bought it because it is a AA powered light that fits my sizing and light output requirements perfectly. The only drawback that I have using this light is the switch. I have had several issues with the light being inadvertently powered on while in my pocket. It stinks to pull the light out of my pocket to find it dimly shining after being on in my pocket for over an (assumed) hour.
ConsSwitch not protected perfectly

ELEGANT LOOKING BUT A FEW DRAWBACKS
PREVIOUSLY I PURCHASED THE OLIGHT S1 BATON, WHICH USES THE CR123A. THE S15 IS AN ELEGANT LOOKING LIGHT AND COMES IN A PROFESSIONAL VELVET PRESENTATION CASE. THE MAIN WEAKNESS OF THIS LIGHT IS THE EXPOSURE OF THE SWITCH. THE SWITCH HAS A PERFECT CLICK TO IT THAT THE S1 BATON DOES NOT HAVE, BUT THE SWITCH IS VERY EXPOSED AND WILL BE EASILY ACTIVATED IN YOUR POCKET. NEXT THE ADVERTISEMENT SAYS YOU CAN USE ALKALINE, NI-MH OR LITHIUM, BUT NO PARAMETERS OF THESE BATTERIES IS GIVEN ANYWHERE. FROM MY EXPERIENCE ALKALINE BATTERIES WITH A LONG IN THE FUTURE EXPIRATION DATE CAN RUIN A GOOD LED LIGHT I HAVE ONE NOW THAT IS COMING BACK FORM CHINA.
ProsELEGANT LOOKING, SUPERIOR ACTIVATION SWITCH EVEN THOUGH THE SWITCH WILL NOT BE PROPERLY PROTECT IN YOUR POCKET.SWITCH IS BETTER THAN THE S1 BATON, BUT NOT PROTECTED.
ConsTHE ADVERTISEMENT STATES THAT YOU CAN USE ALKALINE, NI-MH, OR LITHIUM, BUT NO SPECIFICS ARE GIVEN. THE EXTENSION TUBE THOUGH PRETTY, IS NOT NECESSARY, WHEN YOU CAN USE A LITHIUM BATTERY WITH A HIGH MAH. FOR SUCH A HIGH PRICE YOU WOULD EXPECT A BETTER LIGHT. DEFINITELY, THE OLIGHT S1 BATON IS A FAR BETTER PRODUCT WITH SUPERIOR LUMENS, ALSO, THIS LIGHT IS LONGER AND TENDS TO BE BULKY FOR A SMALL POCKET LIGHT.THE S1 BATON IS MUCH SMALLER AND PUTS OUT ALMOST TWICE THE LIGHT. THE MOONLIGHT, AND LOW LED ARE A WASTE OF TIME AND JUST CONFUSE THE OPERATION OF THE LIGHT

" To Use or Not to Use " (that is the dilema) . . . .
Folks, I ordered one of these because, truthfully, I really liked the looks of it. It was not your run of the mill typical flashlight. But then it arrived along with some other items, & luckily I opened this box last. OK, cardboard sleeve packing, nice . . . wow, a black "velvet presentation case" . . . ok . . . . & then I opened it. There is no way to describe the finish or fit of this light without actually having one in your hands. Great marketing ploy of the black velvet against the polished silver, just really sets it off. Then, as an added bonus, I find in a different box an extension tube that just makes this bad boy even more bad. I finally took it out of the box, looked at it, put the extension tube on, then took it off, then put it back on. Searched for some AA's, found some, & took it out on the porch. We have a utility shed about 60-70yds from the house, & this light lit it up like the sun @ noon. I took the extension tube off & tried a single AA, & it still lit up the shed enough that I could tell if anyone or anything would have been around it. When I went in, I again looked everything over, & believe it or not, debated whether to take a rag & wipe it down . . . . If you are looking for a neat & different Christmas / Anniversary / Birthday / " Boss " / or just something out of the ordinary for a gift, you will hit the jackpot with this. And as I said at the beginning, should you use it, or is it going to be a " safe queen " for years to come ?????? Be safe. P.S. : I just ordered my 2nd yesterday . . . .
ProsSmall size / bright light / good center beam & enough light for surrounding area / Absolutely a beautiful finish above description / AA power source, plentiful / A real tug of war or whether to use it or not / Decent price from a great company / Am " Assuming " you may use rechargeable batteries, but could not find any info as yay or nay / Any help from anyone would be most appreciated
ConsYou're kidding right ??? . . . . :-) The only con would be if they quit making it in this finish . . .

Aside from being a pretty decent flashlight the titanium construction affords the user high kudos for appearance, especially if the light accompanies the user to a black tie affair. The output levels seem to be accurate with the LED color on the warm side. The machining is flawless with all parts fitting nicely. Special care must be taken to not actuate the power switch accidentally due to its location on the side of the flashlight head. Locking-out helps, but if the button gets pushed inadvertently for a few seconds then the lockout is overridden and then the light is "on". Definitely a "looker".
ProsUnmistakable distinctive appearance, superior electronics, excellent feel. big clip, nice spill gradient. Tail cap magnet might prove useful.
ConsNone, considering the design and the application.

My favorite flashlight
This is a beautiful light with excellent machining and build quality. I've contemplated displaying it on my desk at work like a fine fountain pen, but I'm worried I'd play with it and not get any work done =) Like its cousins the S15-L2 and S10-L2, it's got a great user interface, excellent mode spacing, regulation, runtimes, etc. While the Titanium version is a bit more costly than the aluminum version, it has a neutral tint -- which the regular S15-L2 does not. It also detects when you're using a single AA cell (I love that you have this option in a pinch) by the lower voltage, and adjusts output levels so as to not drain the battery too quickly. Again, the aluminum S15-L2 doesn't have this feature. There are some negatives with this version of the S15 1. You cannot lock out the circuit at the tailcap, since there is no anodizing. So accidental activation is a problem. And the protruding button (though easy to find in the dark) makes this a rather big problem if you want to EDC the light in your pocket. If that's your primary use-case, then I'd suggest you go with the aluminum model. 2. Titanium is heavier than aluminum. This is not a lightweight light ;) especially in its 2xAA form. Using the magnetic tailcap feature in 2xAA mode is consequently tentative. 3. When running in 1xAA form, you lose a mode and it's moonlight, low, and an adjusted (lower) high mode. Turbo is gone. It's not a problem per-se, but worth noting. You can however, run the light on a single 3V lithium CRAA cell, with the same outputs as 2xAA form. 4. The tint on mine is warm & yellow. Not unpleasant to my eye, but others might object. For those folks, the aluminum S15-L2 comes with a cool white emitter. To sum up, this is a light I love using. It has a couple of drawbacks inherent in the materials used, but they are minor. If you like Titanium lights, then you'll like this one.

What I think of the Olight S15 Baton
To those of you who read this review let me say that I am very happy with both of mine. I first bought the bead blasted finished one and liked it so much I bought the polished one too. I do however have one problem as I carry it at all times, it accidentally gets turned on with out my knowing it. The instructions on how to lock the switch are difficult to understand. But this is an awesome flashlight.
