Definitely my favorite out of my 4 small flashlights. The S15 output is really impressive for it's size, especially when running a 14500. Easy to use,, 'moonlight mode, magnet on the bottom, strong reversible clip. One of the main reasons I purchased this S15 is that it will run on a AA or 14500.
ProsRuns on AA or 14500, cost, Olight reliabilty, size.

A Perfect Companion
I own 4 other Olights, this is the first one which uses a common AA battery, or a 14500 rechargeable battery. I've tested both battery types and found that the rechargeable 14500 are not only brighter but also last longer. It is by far, one of the easiest lights to operate, turn the light on and adjust the brightness levels by keeping the power on button held down, low/med/high and a double click for strobe, I also like the recessed power on button, which cannot accidentally be turned on within a pocket. I find that maneuvering in the dark on low is perfect for not disturbing my wife, if I need it brighter, I can easily bump it up to med. which is really more then enough light for all but tactical uses, which is reserved for high, I've walked my dogs at night while in high mode and it lit everything up around me perfectly, the build on the little Olight has the same robust quality as it's bigger brother. I now carry this light wherever I go.

Not the brightest, but thats not all bad. I mean really, do you reallly need 1000 lumens for your day to day activities? 280 lumins is plenty for me, I'll tellya what. The BEST THING is that the Moonlight mode is in memory, yes boys and girls, that means when you go from off to on, Moonlight comes on. That is assuming you had it off and pressed the button for two seconds to enter Moonlight mode in the first place. Oh did I mention it uses ordinary every day run of the mill AA batterys?
Pros Everything for me

Great Little Light
Small flashlight, but very bright...got on sale for a great value. Like that it has a magnetic base. Very handy.
ProsBright, magnetic base, multiple modes
ConsNo tail cap switch

Great light, well made! Was looking for a new EDC and this seems to fit the bill perfectly. Very small and light output is as advertised. My only issue is getting used to the side switch...but that will come in time. This light is for EDC, not work.
ProsQuality, price, light output

Perfect size for EDC
I fried the emitter on my old Nitecore PD D10 SP R2, which I loved. The S15 is an big time upgrade. Use the clip for hat and makes it a great headlight. The magnetic tail cap, great for working under the hood of my truck. On turbo the tight hotspot reall reaches out. With optional extended tubes, it runs a long time. The best bang for your buck. I have ordered two more for gifts.
ProsMost lumens for the $$. Most versatility .

Best small flashlight *****
I don't know why people complain about the side switch, problems with light turning on in their pocket, clip and lumens. Many people prefer a side switch, it has advantages over a tail switch for some. IF you hold the button down for 2 to 3 seconds, the power locks off/out. Or, loosen the tail cap. The clip is ideal for belts, wide or narrow. LUMENS - this flashlight runs on AA or Li-ion. AA works fine with good brightness. To those who whine, remember, we are not all young, need tactical switches, want Li-ion batteries, or live in cities or large towns with easy access to non standard batteries, or have good internet reception to order them. Some of us live in the real bush i.e. isolated. Olight has done a great job with the S15 and I hope they keep side switches and AA battery options in their range of flashlights.
ProsSmall, good quality, very bright, battery options AA or Li-ion, extension tube option to run two or three AA. Works better with 2 AA than 3 AA.
ConsI would like to have the option of LED tint. Neutral white and warm white.

Great, Small and powerful.
This light is fantastic; a LEO 's (Police Officer) dream come true for a backup light. People buy several, give them to your local first responders or a loved one who is in the military. The belt clip is the best I have seen but the light is small enough to fit anywhere on the duty belt or to the vest.
ProsPowerful, small great belt clip.

As always great quality pocket light. The clip is not ergonomic, still have to use two hands to return to pants pocket. Clip is also weird design. Max Power is not 280 lumens. Button is side mount, which is harder to use in tactical application. I have two M series, which both are used daily. Overall they are my Best flash lights for working... Olight missed the Mark on with S15.
ConsPoor ergonomics. Switch is in a poor location.

READ THE DIRECTIONS
This is a great little light. You will be much happier with it if you read the directions and learn how to use the modes and lock-out feature. I'm running an Eneloop battery in mine and the performance has been great. I really like the "moon" mode.
ProsYou can go right to "moon" mode from off. The lock-out function is a plus.
ConsThe switch can be hard to find in the dark.

Very bright, exceptional battery life
I've owned this light for several years, never had an issue with it turning on spontaneously. The battery life is exceptional. I have two other LED flashlights that use 2 AA batteries and the other lights need their batteries charged five times more often, yet have less output compared to the S15. The S15 has a very useful beam, brightest in the center for distant illumination while a less bright wide bean adequately illuminates a bedroom. It came with one extension tube and I added a second extension so I have the option of using 1, 2 or 3 AA batteries. There is a magnet on the tail end which allows hands free use by sticking the flashlight to any ferris metal surface. Three brightness levels are super cool and very useful. I like this flashlight a lot. After several years of use it still looks like the day I bought it, meaning it was made to last. I highly recommend the Olight S15 Baton for anyone looking for an LED flashlight that uses readily available AA batteries, has a bright beam and needs fewer battery replacements (or recharges) than other flashlights.
ProsBright natural light beam Long battery life Three brightness levels Magnetic hands free use One, two or three battery option

I purchased this as a 1x AA pocket light, but lured by the thought of extended run times, I purchased 2 additional extensions to make it a 2 or 3 AA unit. Now with Energizer lithiums, Enloops, rechargeables, or primary cells I'm all set. It seems to really like the energizer lithiums as well as the Enloops. It has a very nice feel in the hand as a longer light and is very well made.
ProsAll of the above love the lockout feature to prevent accidental activation.

Great light in a compact package!
I ordered this light because it runs on common AA batteries. I also ordered the extension tube, which only makes it a little longer, but doubles the battery life. It is bright when needed and you can conserve power with lower settings when working up close. Great light!
Prossmall, easy to operate, uses common AA batteries

Carried the light one day and found it on at least three times during the day. I left it in my pants pocket overnight thinking it was off. The next morning it was down to a very dim light. If Battery Junction will take it back, it is going back. I have another Olight that I use constantly and it is more than satisfactory. I would, and will, buy Olights in the future but not one of this design.

Solid flashlight with cool firefly
This light is great. I ordered a tube extender to add 1 more eneloop AA and it's better than many other 2AA flashlights. Switching to different brightness level is simple and the switch itself feel solid. I like the firefly mode at .5 lumens. I can let it runs for 15 days. It'll let you see everything in your dark box. No need to turn it off. Just recharge the batteries after 2 weeks! I ordered this light from the Special Offers section which shows the Olight TW10 White Glow-in-the-Dark Traffic Wand along with the flashlight. I did not receive the wand; only the flashlight. Make sure you get response from batteryjunction before you order the light.

Best small light ever, 1 glitch
I've carried one for almost six months. Amazingly bright, amazingly long-lasting battery, amazingly small and light, and the rheostat/light level control ensures even longer life. The best small light I've ever owned. Glitch? Yup -- the switch. No lock out mechanism - put it in your watch pocket, any pressure will turn it on accidentally -- and it gets hot!! [My] solution is to back out the cap a few turns. But having a lockout / sliding rather than push button switch would be all the improvement it needs.
ProsBrilliant light, best for it's size
ConsNo lockout switch, can turn on through pressure in your pocket by accident.

Olight S15 Baton
This is an extremely bright, well-designed EDC light. Any problem with it coming on in one\'s pocket is easily resolved using the programmed lock-out mode or, even easier, unscrewing the tail cap a few degrees.

I think perhaps Bruce did not read the instructions for the S15 carefully enough. There is a lock-out mode for the S15. I carry mine a lot, and have not had it come on in my pocket. That said, some sort of guard for the switch would be a good idea.

The problem that I had with the flashlight is the sensitive switch. You couldn\'t put the flashlight in your pocket without turning itself on. If the flashlight had the switch in the tail cap - I would probably give it a 5 star rating.

When an extension tube is used with the Olight S15, your website says that the runtime is doubled. Is that really, the case, or do you merely double the voltage? And if the voltage is doubled, how does this effect the lumen output?
When using the extender tube, the runtime will double. Powering with two batteries, the circuit operates with a higher efficiency. The lumen output, however will not increase. Using a second extender tube (3 batteries) will increase the runtime a little further, but will not triple the original runtime.

Is the brightness stated achieved with a standard battery or do you need to purchase the stronger AA batteries?
The 280 lumen output high mode is achieved by using a Li-Ion 14500 battery.. Alternatively, you can use either an alkaline or Ni-Mh battery, which will produce a slightly less bright output.
