Another Cell to Challenge the Champ
January 2, 2017
As with other Lithium technology batteries, there are not that many makers of these cells in the world... the materials and processes are simply too demanding in processing and controls to allow for makers without adequate knowledge, equipment, and stall to succeed. So just a few makers build cells that are sold under their own name as well as under various brand names that are either famous for other aspects of battery tech or for their battery operated products... some of these brands specify or select for capacity as a distinctive, too. Energizer's patents have kept other major brand makers out of the US market for quite a while.
Perhaps Powerizer's cells don't quite meet the standards for capacity that other brand names demand as indicated by testing of a run. If so, that lesser standard of capacity is well worth the lesser price point asked as long as other standards, like discharge curve service life, shelf life, and cell mechanical strength and stability are consistently met as well as with the cells sold by "major" brands.
If taking that risk is something you're wary of, consider this: For those devices that you intend to salt away until needed and those that you demand are "ready-when-I-need-them" use the Energizer's Ultimate L91 AA's... the best chance, best name you can have. But for devices you use regularly, perhaps with Alkaline or NiMH AA's, give these a try to experience their service life and discharge curve in use, and gain some confidence in them. Put a few aside for a year or three as well, then put them to use to see if they've held up in storage and retained their capacity... maybe put another few aside for a decade as a long term test, too.
ProsLikely made by a major maker of such cells, perhaps at a lesser standard of capacity and so at a lesser price. Given the likelihood of the same maker, materials, processes, and expertise, I'd expect the same long term storage life and service life characteristics
ConsThe challenge for any other Lithium Iron cell maker is to distinguish their cells from the look of all those no-name Alkaline cells out there. The external cover design of these cells is better than their AA's design, and does suggest that this cell isn't a no-name Alkaline but prompts a closer look to find it's a Lithium Iron cell.

Good battery. Not quite as good as an energizer but is priced a little cheaper.

Longer life than alkaline
November 9, 2017
Big fan of Li Fe batteries... I find them to last much longer in several devices I use. hard to find these batteries in an AAA size that price-competes with pricey Energizer version. These provide better power for a motorized tooth brush and longer lasting than alkaline.

Seemed to perform similar to less expensive alkaline batteries. Energizer cost a bit more but well worth the investment.
