I've said it many times before, I collect flashlights. So, when you get in that habit you compare different ones. Overall RovyVon has been the one that has impressed me the most (so far I think I'm up to 12). Fairly simple function use/interface, a lot of light for the size, clear light not distorted or fussy like some other brands and true rating of lumens (as far as I can tell, I don't have any kind of meter.

The S3 has the same fit and finish I expect. The functions are basically the same (I think they added a beacon mode). However, the lumen rating is 1800, and I just don't see it. I have compared it to my A23 which is rated at 1000, and the S3 (yes I did get the Cree) is only marginally brighter in close proximity and doesn't project as far. The light is chunkier/fatter, and you can feel it quite a bit if you want to keep it in your pocket.

The only reason this one didn't get five stars is that I don't think it is actually 1800 lumens (maybe they mis boxed mine, it's more like 1200). If you want one to carry go with the A23, it's smaller with almost the same amount of light.
