"Cutting Edge" Design

Razor-sharp and remarkably rugged, the SOGfari 10" Tanto Machete is one of SOG's most effective cutting tools. The 16-inch long knife features an incredibly strong 3CR13 steel tanto blade, complete with a straight edge blade on one side for slicing through brush and other materials and a long-toothed saw blade on the other side for cutting through branches and small logs. Excellent for emergency situations

This item has a saw on one side and a sharp edge on the other. A sheath protects these edges, and the user, when the tool is not in use.

Anyone that might be in a survival situation should have this. You can use the saw to cut small logs for firewood or emergency shelter. The blade is fine for hacking vines. Whether you use this for hiking emergencies or grid down situations, it could make getting that firewood easier.

In a self defense situation, something like this could be useful. It can also be used to humanely kill an animal for a meal if needed. And no, I do not recommend this for heavy duty use (cutting down large trees, cleaning up after a major storm, etc.) where a chainsaw or large bucksaw is more appropriate. Nor is the knife edge for fine carving. But, you can cut down trees around 10 cm in diameter and take branches off for firewood, or clear underbrush for an emergency shelter. To me, this is one of those things I hope never to actually need for this, but will be grateful if that day comes where I do.

When you need to make your own path and have branches and plants in your way, you can't go wrong with this machete. Its light and portable and fits in most belt size width, the sheath is very durable and not flimsy.
