Description
SS406 Australian and New Zealand Type I Plug Adapter

Are you looking for a way to plug in a foreign appliance to the Australian/New Zealand Type-I outlets? Are you from another country and planning on visiting Australia or New Zealand? This compact plug adapter makes it easy.

Many power transformers these days are able to run off of either 110V or 220V AC. All that is needed is a plug adapter to make the mechanical connection. This plug adapter converts your US-style Type-A (including polarized) and European Type-C plugs to the Type-I two-pinned angled plug. The durable plastic house is rugged for on-the-go use.

Please Note: For Use With Non-Grounded Appliances. Plugs Do Not Convert Electricity

Commonly use American Samoa, Argentina*, Australia, China, El Salvador, Cook Islands, East Timor, Fiji, Guatemala, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Okinawa, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, St. Vincent, Tajikistan, Tonga, Uruguay*, and Vanuatu.

* In Argentina and Uruguay, the neutral and active wires are reversed from what is used in other countries.

Sure beats bending and forcing 110v plugs to fit Ozzie 240v power outlets
November 1, 2014
I bought several of these animals a few years back and always seem to be finding a use for them. I needed to use one with my recently purchased Fenix ARE-C2 battery charger.
Yes you can bend & twist the standard 110v plugs to suit Ozzie 240v power outlets but it is a pain and they are either too tight or too loose after mods.
With the amount of 110/240 gadgets and importing direct from the states this makes it all too easy.
Pros
  • They work, what more can I say.
  • Cheap & Simple
Cons
  • Could be a little tighter fit for the 240v but not a deal breaker.

Do I need the ground prong for computer and cell phone charging in Australia?
1 Answer
If your device uses a ground prong, then yes you would need a grounded adapter. Otherwise you should be fine.
