Signaling Directions:
  • Select an area as open as possible with a clear view of the sky and, if possible, the horizon. Stand facing toward the sun or other light source (even if overcast).
  • Reflect light from the sun or light source onto hand, raft, or other nearby surface. Make sure that your hand doesn't block the light from the light source to the mirror surface.
  • Aim up and outward. If no target vehicle is in sight, continually sweep the horizon.
