Great Bike Light
"This is a great light for your bike or anything you can mount it to. I had one of the Cateye products myself, popular among bikers and it's going on 3 years old, and like anything electronic, in a week it's out dated. The old light was like a mag light, and it put out about that much light in about a square foot on the ground. I turned on this light, and everything lit up!!! On low this light is 5x brighter than the old one, with a much better pattern (both spread and spot) it's almost like a dual beam, it's really nice. Medium is bright and high would be if you were in the woods or needed a ton of light. I can only imagine how nice the BT20 is at 750 lumens, has to be really bright. This is a great light, glad I made the purchase, night riding will be safer and I'll be able to see more. Amazing how one technology (flashlights) can transfer over to other markets like bikes, for the same price this light is 10x better than the ones the bike shops sell (unless it was this light)"
Must have if you ride at night
"I bought this light on Fenix\'s reputation. When I got it home, I felt the weakness would be the mounting (nothing more than a heavy rubber band) on the light and the Velcro (tends to wear out after a short time) on the battery case holder. I managed to get it attached to my bike within a few minutes without tools. When I turned it on that night, it emitted plenty more light than the Cateye product it replaced (a brand that specializes in bicycle lights). I could actually see colors instead of the monochrome street lights, and I could see the road better (helpful in cases where street lights are out or missing). The batteries are easy enough to change--once you label the polarity (there are no markings within the case itself as to which pole goes up and down). I like that I can use NiMH batteries, meaning no more throwing away alkaline batteries. It doesn\'t last as long per charge as the old light did per battery change, but using Sanyo Eneloops, that doesn\'t matter because I can simply charge them regularly. I do recommend getting extra changes of batteries if you use this light regularly. Only time will tell how well the mounting will hold up, but so far I have yet to experience issues with the light shifting on bumps. I have had other brands where the bracket refuses to stay tight and it would shift easily. As for the light itself, I believe Fenix is quite sturdy and avoids issues with the switch failing that I have had with other brands, notably brands that specialize in bicycle lights. The batteries attach elsewhere, so prepare for a cable to attach from your light to the frame. Yes, this light costs about double what the other light did. Yes, it goes through batteries quickly (but they can be NiMH, unlike the wimpy light it replaced which can only use alkaline batteries). But, all in all it is worth it--and will be even more so the one time I have to ride at night during a blackout. Already I feel safer riding at speed when the street lights have gaps. Definitely worth the extra money."
