Gold Standard in AAA rechargeable cells
"As with their AA cells, the Panasonic AAA NiMH rechargeable cells represent the gold standard in reliable rechargeable consumer product use cells. I have tried many other brands and have never had a single Eneloop fail over the years, and found their shelf-life specification realistic when pulled from storage years later. When gifting electronic devices, I always strongly recommend not using Alkaline cells due to risk of leakage damage, and give Eneloop cells alongside the device. Recently LiIon rechargeable 1. 5v cells have become available, which provide full voltage for devices that may not work as well with the 1. 25v of NiMH, but these new cells have not demonstrated cycle life durability nor storage shelf-life longevity (not specified). The Eneloop NiMH remains the dependable and affordable rechargeable cell."

My Go-To for NiMH Cells.
"Are there less expensive NiMH cells? Yes. Are they as dependable? Have as long a standby life? Have as long and reliable a cycle life? Not in my experience. That's why I buy Eneloop cells especially for flashlights and devices that I use for """"emergency"""" or """"first aid kit"""" use (mechanically preventing standby discharge)."
