Description

Nitecore MT06MD Medical LED Flashlight

Impressive Medical Light

The Nitecore MT06MD LED Flashlight is a compact and sophisticated penlight designed specifically for use by medical professionals. The innovative penlight is equipped with a specialized Nichia 219B LED that produces up to 180 lumens of high CRI light, as well as two dimmer outputs of 45 lumens and 4 lumens for a wider range of lighting needs. The bright 180 lumen setting is perfect for examining wounds while the faint 4 lumen setting is ideal for inspecting patients' pupils. The Nichia LED is photobiologically safe, meaning it does not emit any blue light which may cause damage to one's eyes if directly exposed. The MT06MD is operated using a simple clicking tail cap switch for one-handed operation ideal for medical examinations.

Innovative Design

Every aspect of the MT06MD is designed for optimal performance for medical professionals. The capable light runs on a pair of common AAA cells, so you'll never need to worry about not being able to find the proper replacement batteries. Just over 5 inches long and weighing under an ounce, this lightweight torch easily fits in your pocket and even comes with a stainless steel pocket clip for more secure carrying. Constructed from anodized aluminum alloy, this penlight is capable of being submerged underwater and even in alcohol with no damage, allowing it to be adequately sterilized before use. Even the MT06MD's reflector and lens are specialized to produce an evenly dispersed beam to prevent any hot-spotting that may drown out a crucial detail during an examination.

Quality penlight

"This is the second I purchased. I had to replace the first one. There is a flimsy O-ring internally in the battery compartment. It caused the first one to fail. I like the overall feel and brightness. It is an excellent diagnostic tool. I bought it again because of the overall quality I have found in my other Night Core products. I have several and this is the only one I’ve ever had problems with. This one seems fine."

Not just for Medical Use!

"Great little every-day-carry light. No need to worry about when a USB rechargeable does dark, just easy to swap AAAs. Have had several in use for years, not a failure yet, and yes, one on each of my e-med bags."

Great for first responders, health care professionals, and your home

"While a perfect addition to an advanced first aid kit, my primary care physician and optometrist both are impressed with the capabilities of this light, especially when compared to the disposables (e. g. give-a-ways with a suppliers logo and a pupil size guide) or the very expensive rechargeables. For the contact lens wearer, it provides a perfect brightness level for locating a miscentered lens too."

Kind of Blue

"I really wanted to love this light. So much, in fact, that this is the 2nd one I purchased. I bought an earlier one before it had the hokey pupil guide on the side. I was surprised by the light having a purplish tint when shone at an angle on a white piece of paper. I thought maybe Nitecore might have put the wrong emitter in it. I sent them photos including comparisons to my other high-CRI lights from 4Sevens and Fenix. They attributed the difference to variance in color temperature rather than CRI. Based on all the great reviews, I bought another. The skin tones are not natural or perhaps I should say just not as natural or pleasing as sunlight or my other lights. Rather than try to hold flashlights in my mouth to try to illuminate my foot to photograph, here's another test. The 1st photo is of my guitar (Fender Stratocaster) in only sunlight. The color of the guitar is called seafoam green. You can find many photos online to further see its true color. In the 2nd photo, it's lit by 3 flashlights, Fenix high CRI on the left, 4Sevens high CRI on the right and the Nitecore MT06MD in the center. Note that the Fenix and 4Sevens show the guitar accurately while the Nitecore makes it appear blue. I'm thinking this is caused not by the emitter but rather the reflector Nitecore chose as it appears green in the center but blue surrounding which is similar to what I experienced with the angled reflection on white. You can also see the difference in the reflections off the guitar of the flashlight lenses and again, the Nitecore looks blue. I like the construction and the UI but perhaps a different reflector is in order."

Great light in a compact package

"This light works great for my needs. It starts out in the low 5lm mode which is perfect for checking pupils. it also scales up to be extremely bright with a half press of the tailcap making it great for assessing wounds or injuries (or finding pills that were dropped on the floor). With this lights high CRI output whatever you're shining it on will look natural and not washed out. Overall a great light for any medical professional or first responder"

Great Light!

"It was much brighter than I expected. This was gifted to a friend who is an MD. He loved it too. Much slimmer then his previous and lighter too. The build quality is excellent."

Nick (5/5)

"Very bright. I normally use medium. It's plenty bright for me."
