This lithium-ion 18650 offers a modest 2300mAh capacity, which works well in high-drain devices, such as flashlights and lanterns. The Fenix ARB L18 has an abundance of safety features to prevent short circuits and overheating. The li-ion battery includes a built-in protection circuit, located within the anode with a steel hat, to eliminate any risk of short circuiting that would be caused by impact. The entire cell is actually covered by a steel shell for this reason. The PCB circuit also prevents the possibility of overcharging or over-discharging the cell. This 18650 battery is also fitted with pressure relief vents for when the rare short circuit does in fact occur. These vents allow waste gas to expel safely from the cell, thus preventing it from inflating and ultimately from exploding.
