Focus Adjustable
A simple twist of the head switches focus between flood and spotlightYou wanted it, and Fenix has delivered. Most newer lights give lumen output priority over good old fashioned intuitive design, but the creators of the FD40 said nuts to that and have made a light that can easily transition between a spotlight and flood light setting. The spotlight setting pushes the extension of the light's beam to a full 300 meters, great for long range spotting, search and rescue and signaling. When in flood mode, the light is cast directly in front of the user at a 78° angle that is best used for area lighting and exploration in tight quarters. Additionally, there is also a strobe option that is easily activated by pressing and holding the stainless steel side switch.
