Description

Fenix HM23 Ultralight LED Headlamp

Perfect for Any Adventure

The Fenix HM23 is a super lightweight and comfortable headlamp designed for high activity people that need reliable lighting suitable for several situations. This headlamp is equipped with a neutral white LED that can put out as many as 240 lumens that can shine up to 53 meters away. This specific LED color is a popular color temperature for its clear color recognition in natural environments. Running off of just one AA battery, maximum run time is 100 hours - more than enough time to complete your next adventure without stopping to change the batteries. The 180° adjustable beam is made possible with the high-elastic silicone holder, providing you with more beam angle options for the task at hand.

Ultra Comfortable

Fenix has revolutionized headlamp comfort by constructing the lamp body from high-strength aluminum, making it weigh less than a standard egg when you take out the battery! The new reflective headband weaving design reduces headband weight, allows for better breathability, and nighttime visibility. Even the silicone side switch (comfortable to the touch), was made with comfort in mind. The all-in-one button design is user friendly as you never have to see the headlamp to activate it or get to a different lighting output. Let Fenix light your way next time you want to enjoy the great outdoors!

Headlight

"It,s a good light I plan on taking it on a antelope hunt in the fall it takes 1 battery that makes it lite and I will carry a couple extras just in case so I won't have to worry about getting shot walking out in the dark."

Small and Efficient

"Small and efficient - great qualities in a headlamp. At first I was surprised that it always came on at the lowest level, this is the only light I own that does that. It turns out that I really like that feature. On many of my other lights, I would turn them to low before turning them off to prevent battery drain if they were activated accidentally. Switch quality seems solid, and I like the headband."

Great budget headlamp for anyone that prefers AA

"Overall I love this lamp. It's pretty well made especially for the price. Most of the time I don't like cycling through the output levels but here it's pretty intuitive. I like that you need to press and hold the power for a couple seconds; this should minimize the risk of it coming on in my backpack. And let me briefly talk about the output levels. They're awesome! The low is quite low, moonlight- or firefly-low but pretty low. This is excellent as one of my main complaints is that most manufacturer's LOW setting is too high. A really low output setting is great when you need to preserve night vision and are doing tasks that don't require much light (eg getting a key in the door, finding the bathroom, etc). I use mine camping so run time is my highest priority making that LOW setting a godsend. The MED setting is not too far from the HIGH but there's a decent step between them. This isn't a blindingly bright lamp, and most of my Petzl and Black Diamond lamps are brighter. The color temp is somewhat cool but not to the point of being blue. The beam is a bit more like you'd see in a handheld, more focused and less diffuse. This is acceptable although for a headlamp I would prefer a bit more diffuse light. The reason I bought this was to have a decent quality headlamp that uses AA. While I'm pretty much CR123a most of the time, the guys I usually hike and camp with have standardized to AA & AAA. So I tend to carry more AA & AAA stuff when I'm with them so we have commonality in batteries. I'm very pleased with these! I got two and they're working great for me."

Quality small light use headlamp

"I recently purchased the Fenix HM23 headlight to upgrade my equipment, overall it has proven to be a good value for the money. Light strength and quality are good, beam strength is adequate but would probably be my only negative, could be a little stronger however given the great size and weight I would call it a good trade off. All in all a quality headlamp for a variety of uses, a great investment."

Do not purchase unless you will use on LOW power at all times!

"Battery Junction service was excellent! Headlamp was purchased because of good advertised output/run-time on a single AA battery. Fenix fails to state that this light will only run on high output for approx. 10 minutes and medium output for approx 20 mins. before automatically switching over to low power. Once on low power, it cannot be changed ('until light cools off'). This light will not be useful to you unless you plan on running it on low power all the time. I would not recommend to others."

Jay R. (1/5)

Great simple, lightweight headlamp that uses common AA.

"I purchased this light for my emergency pack, and with use of a 1. 5V lithium AA (Energizer Ultimate), I am not seeing the output throttling issues that the Jay R. reported. Although the light does step-down power after ~15 minutes on high, I can immediately recycle to that level, and the light seems to be able to stay on medium power for extended periods (< 5 hours; I have only had the light for a couple of weeks, and have not had the chance to further test). Maybe the Jay's unit was defective? My unit never seemed to reach temperatures above what a typical iPhone wall-adaptor reaches: it was never even remotely uncomfortable to hold, and I can't feel the heat on my head, for-sure. It can't match my Zebralight H600, but then again, that wasn't the purpose of this purchase. Overall, I'm quite happy with this little AA headlamp."
