Fitorch EC20 Flashlight

EDC Construction – Meet AA Simplicity

While other lights are racing towards the brightest turbo (and the biggest price tag), Fitorch's EC20 EDC flashlight focuses on what matters: a versatile range of output modes, a lightweight and compact design, and durable/waterproof construction for outdoor usability. Slap on a few tactical features like a 550-lumen strobe and simple UI on an integrated tailswitch, and the EC20 is one of the best AA-powered lights on the market. The 475-foot throw is perfect for worksite or outdoor lighting, and the included holster, lanyard, and removable pocket clip provide multiple ways to carry.

the light was received with

"the light was received with extreme damage!!!! the tailcap would not come off. looks like some leaking from the tail cap. the battery will not come out. the top battery is covered in a film, corrosion in the head cap. i am trying to get pictures."

How many lumens. . Not 550

"The light physically is near perfect. I do not feel that the advertised lumen output is 550. It seems much less. Yes I put in fresh batteries and the result was the same. The output seems dim and not what I expected. . Kind of like an old Maglite? CC"

Solid Flashlight

"I bought the flashlight on sale and its a great deal. The flashlight has well spaced modes and takes common batteries. Must have for the car and house. . . . . especially on sale."

Every Day Carry

"Bright light! Hard to find a good one that runs on AA but this has really done the trick."

Bad UI and Poor Runtime

"This was my second Fitorch flashlight. I ordered it and their Penlight EC05) model during the Black Friday sale. I wanted to see how the quality was of this newer brand of flashlights. I was a bit disappointed in the Penlight that arrived a week before the EC20 did, so my expectations were not too high for the 2AA model. The EC20 is a little over six inches long. It appears well-made and it comes with an attached pocket clip that is removable and does not spin freely, (like it does on the Penlight). It also comes with two o-rings, lanyard and a nylon holster with Velcro flap. The flap is barely long enough to be able to close. The threads are smooth and came lubed. If the three parts of the flashlight (bezel, body, tailcap) are not screwed on as tight as can be, the light will not function. There is no leeway, even though there is a spring in the tailcap. The clickie is nice and firm. The modes are well spaced at 550 Turbo, (but it looks more like 350), 180 High, 50 Med and 3 LU Low. Strobe is also 550 LU, (but it looks more like 350). SOS looks to be more like 50 LU. The tint is on the Neutral White side. The beam has a nice center hot-spot that blends in smoothly into a good sized spill-light. The manual states the light has Memory mode. IT DOES NOT. I was disappointed in the UI that makes you have to click through the entire cycle of Turbo, High, Med, Low, Strobe, SOS. If you want it to turn on at High, you have to turn it off on SOS. If you want it to turn on to Low, you have to turn it off on Med. I tried leaving it on High for 30 seconds then turning it off. It came back on to Med. I tried leaving it on for 10 seconds on Med and it came back on to Low. I have flashlights that make you go through the entire cycle, but I knew that going into it because the manual stated it did not have Memory. The EC20 says it DOES have Memory. (The Penlight manual does not claim it has Memory mode, and the Penlight DOES HAVE MEMORY. ) I conducted a runtime test on Turbo with fresh Alkaline batteries starting at 1. 63v. (The runtime on High with the 2AAA/Penlight was far below what the specs called for. ) The manual for the 2AA/EC20 called for 2. 5 hours of Turbo. I found the lens/bezel got warm during my testing, but they did not get hot. Turbo lasted for about 30 minutes, before it dimmed to High. Ten minutes later, the light dimmed to Low. Five minutes later, it went out. I waited a minute then tried it again and it went on for a few seconds at a very dim output. When I tried to cycle to the next mode, the light went out again. I measured the batteries on a multi-meter and they read 1. 21v at the end of my test. Once again, the Fitorch specs were way off when it came to runtimes. Had I known about the misleading UI / manual and poor runtimes for this model, I would not have purchased it. Both my Fitorch flashlights appear well-made, but they have extremely over-inflated runtimes."
