Dual Mode User Interface
The Klarus HC3 will quickly become your preferred lighting method with its dual-mode user interface for precise control. Take control with either manual mode or motion sensor mode. The manual mode consists of a single-button interface that will cycle between medium, high, low, high red output, and red strobe modes. Or press the motion-sensor button and quickly turn on the Klarus HC3 with a wave of your hand. Twin sensors within the light detect motion and will automatically switch on or off the COB (Chips on Board) LED. Utilizing quick-charging technology, the Klarus HC3 uses a built-in micro-USB port and blue battery indicator light to instantly alert users to a full charge. A single charge of this headlamp provides 27 hours of runtime making it the perfect secondary light for hikers, runners, and fishermen.
180° Adjustable
With a 180° adjustable clip, it is possible to precisely direct where the light from the Klarus HC3 is aimed. Thanks to a wide area spotlight, this headlamp can produce wider beams for a softer illumination that is easy on the eyes while simultaneously making it easier to see everything. "I wanted a light-weight headlamp that could clip onto the brim of a baseball cap for jogging at night. This model is rechargeable and provides a wide horizontal beam pattern and weighs about 39 grams. The tint is Cool White and provides a nice, wide beam. At 100 LU, it is barely bright enough to jog at night to still be able to see in front of you a decent distance for your next step. The modes ago from Med, High, Low, solid red, flashing red, off. I found the Low of 6 LU was too dim for just about anything. The motion sensor worked very well in all modes. I may never use that feature, but it is nice to have and it actually works as advertised. The tilting is 180 degrees. I do not know when I would ever want to tilt the light in the complete opposite direction, especially if it is on the brim of a cap. 180 degrees would make the light point directly into my eyes. The clip is hinged with a pin. That allows for the tilting, but since there are no click stops, the light will continue to tilt farther and farther down as you walk and even quicker as you jog. The jarring will cause the light to tilt down 90 degrees in no time flat. In addition, the part of the clip that actually clamps onto the brim of your cap is smooth and it can slip off easily. The clip has very little friction to hold onto the brim and the fact that it is smooth, this will allow the clip to slip off the brim of your cap rather easily. Runtime on High is listed at 4 hours. I found it was closer to 2 hours and then the brightness diminished to about 45 LU for the next two hours. This is more than acceptable, since my jogs are usually about an hour long anyway. This light would get 5-Stars if the tilting feature had click-stops and the clip was more secure. I do like the included USB cable, head-strap and little case the light comes in. I also bought and reviewed clip-on headlamps from Klein and Nite Ize."
