Not quite what I expected

"For the price it wasn't a complete disappointment, but I expected better from Led Lenser. The spot to flood function was useless. The size of the beam circle in spot mode was essentially the same as the flood. The only change in the beam was the center got slightly brighter while the edges got slightly dimmer with the usual concentric shadow rings associated w/drugstore type flashlights. I guess that is considered spot to flood. The whole point of having a spot beam is to see longer distances which this light can't do. In this case a Maglite Solitaire would be cheaper and have a better beam profile. Maglite flashlights just don't last very long (I haven't tried the newer LED versions yet). Run time was adequate (1 hour and still going strong on AAA NiMH) and the size is perfect for what I need it for."
