The LumaPower Mentor SX SideKick IV LED flashlight, building on the success of its predecessors, is fitted with an advanced CREE LED and is revamped to bring new competition to the battlefront. As most flashlight manufacturers make flashlights which use AAA, AA, CR123A, or 18650 batteries, this flashlight runs on either one, two, or even three C alkaline or Li-Ion batteries. For those who want to buy the widely available and inexpensive AAA batteries, this flashlight s also compatible with three AAA batteries. This 2012 model allows for this multiple battery tube length configuration. Complete with a precision reflector and a rugged construction and design, the Mentor SX SideKick IV is the next generation in flashlight technology.

Fire Those Photons

Fitted with a CREE XM-L (U2) Cool White LED, this light is also fitted with a precision smooth reflector which, combined, provide a maximum output of over 850 lumens all the way down to 20 lumens. Running on three C alkaline batteries, get over 17 days of run time! Incredible as it sounds, this light has even more to offer through its output mode selection interface. Using the tactical tail switch to power on the light, then press the side switch to cycle between five different levels of output.

Made from high strength aircraft grade T6 aluminum with a matte black Type III hard anodizing finish, the Mentor SX SideKick IV is truly built for toughness. Designed to be lightweight and durable, this light is also comfortable to hold for one handed operation. Precision knurling around the bezel allows for easy reflector maintenance and LED replacement. The recessed tail cap switch also allows for tail stand capability so it can stand up like a candle, providing ambient lighting in a room or tent.Features and Specifications:

"Purchased my Mentor from Battery Junction several years ago and love it, also purchased the turbo kit and the extension kit to use 3 cells. I'm just using my own eyes for my opinion, it's plenty bright enough for me, it has 5 brightness settings and it will run 'forever' on 3 C cells. I purchased it for a work light and this is where it shines."

"This is a updated review after almost 1yr ownership. I bought a Defiant brand flashlight rated at 500-550 lumen and the Defiant appears to me to put out a brighter beam than the 850 lumen rated Mentor SX. . . . . . for about $100 less in price. Yep, Defiant was $20 @ Home Depot. Mentor SX was positive proof to me that you don\'t always get what you pay for. Don\'t know if LumaPower ever corrected the weak spring in the Mentor SX\'s tail cap either."

good but could easily be better

"Light is bright & well focused. Only complaint is the small, marginal, battery tension spring in the tailcap. Flashlight movement makes the light flicker from battery movement. Had to put a quarter as a spacer between last battery and tailcap to add more tension. Shouldn\'t have to \'fix\' anything that elementary with a $120 dollar flashlight."
