"User-Interface: Wonderful! Gives you all the flexibility of a multi-mode light, but also instant access to max-mode at any time by twisting the head (good for bumps in the night). Also works as a one-mode light in max-mode or if you lock down the multi-mode, or a two-mode light if you just use the bezel to switch between the two. Brightness: VERY bright when using a 14500 battery. I love that it has 4 different levels and no strobe. The levels are well spaced and cover a great range. No moonlight mode, but I can always cover it up with my hand to reduce the brightness when necessary. Clicky: Forward clicky lets you have momentary on, but makes it a bit more of a pain to change between levels in the 3-level mode. Beam: Unexpectedly ringy for an R5, but this is a non-issue in use. Finish: Looks good, love the rich gray color. The clip seems sturdy, though isn\'t as beautiful as the rest of the light. Mine benefited from a quick clean\'n\'grease of the threads, but is super smooth now. LED seems centered to me. Size: Small enough to carry in my pocket, but not small enough to not notice it\'s there. Light enough to clip to the bill of my hat, but not light enough to not flop around just a bit. There are smaller AA lights out there, but not with the combination of features this one gives you. Plus, the extra size allows it to run on max mode with a 14500 indefinitely without problems. Battery: Again, wonderful flexibility--I like that it can take a 14500 for super brightness or a normal AA in a pinch."

After 1 year it fails
"The treads on the tail cap are so bad that the tail pops off in your pocket. The regulator is stuck with the power on it turbo mode, it will not shut off. It will only turn off it is out off turbo mode(front of light a half turn loose). I like its power but the stripped threads and bad regulator are the worst I have ever seen and I have over 50 flashlights. out of warranty, out of luck!"

Best EDC you can get
"EDC best. . . . . . . . . Trust model 1 keychain best. . . Fenix LD01 Big throw and good spot is Eagle tac MCX3 and you can\'t beat the Fenix TK35 for price/performance On all, clean the treads, Lube the rings, and use aluminum anti-oxident from Home depot. (for aluminum wires) I like that I can still fit the TK35 in pocket. Some 3 cell cans won\'t fit in pocket. FYI, I usually favor Fenix as I have never had one give me trouble"

"Just got my TM1 today while waiting for my 14500 to charge I put in a AA and wow what a light, very nice, build quality second to none, a little bigger than I thought it would be (to big for shirt pocket about 3/4 the size of a normal hot dog), then the 14500 was done, holy crap this thing is got to be the brightest EDC on the planet, get this light w/the 14500 you will be blown away by the amount of light for such a small package"

Supreme AA pocket torch / mini-thrower
"This is definitely the best light I have ever owned. For practical usefulness at a $50 price point, the LumaPower Trust Model 1 reigns supreme. I started using AA alkaline cells, then upgraded to Sanyo eneloop NIMH as a long-term investment (make sure you buy an independent-channel charger). The low level shines without blinding your own night-adjusted sleepy eyes, and the high is as bright as any other quality performer running a double-A, but the limiting factor is the 1. 5 volt cell. Next week I upgraded to 14500 rechargeable Lithium Ion cells (Note: protected cells are 2 mm longer and change the operation of the light to twist-only; best to use unprotected cells). While the runtime is reduced with the milli-amp-hour capacity, the beam is twice as bright for full visibility working in dark. With a 3. 6 volt engine, the pocket torch has officially ascended to the status of mini-flame-thrower, capable of discombobulating the retinas of nocturnal foes. An assailant’s eyes will virtually melt in their sockets as they forget who they are and what they were doing. . . you kindly say “may i help you sir”, or “nice doggie”. If you compare the beam force to an HID humungous search light, you will be disappointed. Yet, considering the modest size of this pocket thrower, I can’t ask for more. The light warms up a bit after a few minutes on ultra, but has not overheated. I use the tail stand feature to light up a room instead of flipping a light switch on the wall. The pocket clip is robust, and bezel-down carry is my favorite. This torch lives on my rear pocket, and I use it every day. The first essential task is to clean and lubricate the threads using isopropyl alcohol, clean grease (i used silicone) and q-tips. This will decrease thread and o-ring wear, and make operation smoother and more reliable. The threads are trapezoidal instead of triangular, which is a generous workmanship feature for longevity. The first modification I made to transform this awesome tool into a dream machine was to swap out the tail cap and bezel seal with the glow-in-the-dark rubber goods included in the product package. Be gentle so you don’t break anything if you’re up to the task. Here’s how I did it: For the tail cap, insert a paper clip into one of the two small holes on either side of the spring, and rotate the switch module counter-clockwise until it comes out. Use a reverse-pliers (that opens when you squeeze) to rotate the plastic insert counter-clockwise a few turns until you can pop out the black tail cap, and pop in the replacement. For the bezel, insert a slim metal rod slightly more stout than a paper clip into one of the cross corners next to the spring plate to rotate counter-clockwise until it comes out. Insert the same rod into one of the two small holes next to the light module and rotate a few turns until you can use a small tweezers to remove the bezel o-ring and pop in the new one. Tighten everything back as it was. The glow goods only shine for a few minutes, but it looks sweet, and I assume the photo-luminescent properties were limited to maintain the ductile rubber properties. It’s comforting to know I can always drop in a regular AA in the event that’s the only thing available, so I’m happy with this size lithium cell option, and have decided to not spend money trying any others. This light is so versatile, portable, and powerful, it fits my needs perfectly. Kudos to LumaPower on a brilliant design."

Very Nice!
"Rob did a great review. I just want to second everything Rob said. This is a killer EDC that is very handy to operate, can make excellent use of the 14500 batteries, but can still use any other AA sized battery! It is nice to have a very high output flashlight that does not require 123\'s or 18650\'s. Sometimes you forget to bring extra 123/18650 batteries with you on a trip. With this light you can buy AA\'s anywhere in a pinch. Gotta go!, (Ordering the new MRV!, 1000 lumens! Woo Hoo!). Sluggo"
