The HC50 has everything a good headlamp should offer. Its durability comes from a unique uni-body design. Constructed from a single piece of machined aluminum, the HC50 is rugged enough to withstand harsh impacts and submersion in up to two meters of water for 30 minutes. The ultra-bright turbo mode can be dimmed down to a number of lower settings so you can use this light to flood a whole meadow with light, or to light up a trail-map at an arm's length away. The HC50's adjustable head strap is designed to remain comfortable after extended use and the body of the light is designed to rotate 90 degrees up and down to allow you to cast light exactly here you need it.
On top of all the features and functionality, Nitecore also included a vision-saving red LED function. "I like the lighting Lumens spacing. I mostly use #2 & 3 setting for work. Personally I use Olight 18650 2600mAh and it tends to last a shift of charge. While one is in use, one is charging or taken home to charge. The only problem I've had and had to send it in to be fixed (the reason I bought a new one). The switch stopped working. Over almost daily work use, the button at the end had to be pressed multi times to turn on or off until it wouldn't any more. Sometimes it would run through the different brightness before actually turning off."

"I use this headlamp in many purposes; hiking, backpacking, and work. Very comfortable and the pitch angle is very easy to adjust. In high settings can be blinding but great for walking during a hike in the dark. Low settings is great for reading, especially for maps. I use the red LED for work, I don't want to get shot by the bad guys. It's low enough so you don't get seen and just enough brightness so you can see what you're doing. Best used with ball cap backwards."
"This is my 2nd HC50; one for work and one for home. This light has a really wide throw so it's great for searching rooms (after the structure is secure) and confined spaces that lack electricity, like most dope houses seem to. It is a bit heavy, so if weight is an overriding concern this may not be the light for you. It is well-made, rugged, and has several useful settings. It is one of the few wide-angle headlights that I've seen. It has a decent distance throw but if you are looking for something to light a trail for 100 meters, you might want to make a different choice. That said, I would be very comfortable using it for night land nav in the mountains. It does heat up significantly on the higher settings."
