This is not your ordinary safety whistle. The double flute design provides a specific frequency designed to increase sound levels over distance, cut through background noise caused by weather, rushing water, air and ground traffic, and other distracting noises. The primary central frequency provides the most piercing sound over the widest range of detrimental conditions. Made from a solid block of titanium alloy, so there's no moving parts, and nothing to lose or replace. "Very small, very loud! High pitch. Got this for use as an emergency whistle, to call for help after skiing into a tree well. Titanium body, with a pressed-in aluminum insert. High quality build, Not as pretty as the Olight O-Whistle, but a bit smaller. This one is also square, vs. the round shape of the O-Whistle. The square shape doesn't seal in between lips as good as round, but still works fine."

Performs but not what I was looking for personally

"This does what it's designed to do but turns out my expectations was wrong and this is completely my fault. Basically if you are looking for a small and very loud emergency whistle this is it. What I was looking for (but didn't realize until I used it) was a whistle where it would get louder as I blew harder. So for ex. if I just wanted to get some attention in a crowded room I can give it a small blow. But it turns out it doesn't work well for that , basically, if you blow hard it will go very loud, if you blow just a bit it won't make any noise. If you blow moderately it will be dang loud - way too loud to just get attention in a crowded room but like I said this was wrong expectation on my part. Basically if you are buying this for emergency only and want small and loud this is it. If you are looking for a whistle where you can control its volume I can't recommend it."

Excellent whistle

"The Nitecore titanium whistle is tiny but very loud. I keep it at work in my pocket just in case I need to make a very loud distracting noise. I also carry it on my backpack strap when hiking through the woods. Should come in handy with wildlife encounters and the next time I get lost. I plan on taking it to church and sharing it with an elderly friend who was a Master Chief Boatswains Mate. He uses his Navy pipe to get our Sunday school class to stop socializing and settle down. When he goes home to Heaven, I may take his place with the Nitecore whistle. I also bought one for my wife to keep at work. As Human Resources Director, I have advised her to keep a tactical flashlight and now the Nitecore whistle in her desk."
