The single AA configuration is not only practical, but portable. The MT1A's body is only about four inches long, making it small enough to fit in any pocket or handbag. Despite its small size, this light produces 180 lumens in high mode using a XP-G2 R5 LED. The MT1A is built from hard anodized aluminum that's resistant to impacts, scratches, and corrosion. Precision machinery and O-ring seals allow an IPX-8 water resistance rating for total submersion in up to two meters of water.
The Multi-Task Series' unique interface allows for instant access to exactly the mode you need. The head of the light can be twisted to two positions. When twisted to the left, the MT1A is in its user-defined mode, allowing you to cycle through four output modes, as well as a blinding strobe by rapidly depressing the tail-switch. The light will turn on its most recent mode. With the bezel twisted all the way to the right, the light is in its turbo mode. Depressing the tail-switch when in turbo mode will automatically engage the light's brightest setting. Turbo mode is perfect when you know you'll need instant access to the light's full power - when you're searching through a field, or looking down a trail. The user-defined mode is more useful in close quarter situations, when you may want to adjust your brightness repeatedly as you look through a tent or hallway.

"Typical Nitecore build quality. It is not my EDC so remains like new as a backup. Odd interface means that you can have two modes readily at hand with a twist of the head but the other modes, not so much. It is a good thing that the last mode chosen sticks. Otherwise it would get even less use. I expect it to last a long time. The beam is just okay with its hot center spot. Fitted with an eneloop pro."

"The worst most useless pocket clip I've ever seen. I will be ordering an LD10 clip and modifying it to fit. I order the MT1A because of the interface, which makes the useless silly and downright embarrassing blinking modes, that don't belong on any flashlight, somewhat difficult to activate. And the fact that I know it is on high mode by simply tightening the head, which is how it should be on all flashlights."
