Good Headlamp for working.
"A very good Headlamp for working, doing repairs, BBQing in the Dark, organizing around the camp sight, putting up a tent in the dark, etc. This headlamp is meant for near work. It is essentially a floodlight rather than a spotlight for distant viewing in the dark. It has 3 modes: a general flood with 4 steps, a special flood with high CRI good for reading, and a decent 2 step Red light mode for preserving night vision. It has a good mix set of features for the under $40 price range. The main flood with 450 Lumens Max (ie momentary Turbo) can light up a small campsite for few minutes. The High mode is a decent light 210 lumens for ≈ 4 hours makes it a decent work light. The low mode is adequate for mucking around inside a tent, etc. This is my second one NU35. I use this as a work light for odd jobs around the house and the other while on the road. While the high CRI might be enough lumens for reading, it is not enough for me to read a book, but it's fine for maps, brochures and flyers. I wish the main light was high CRI with steps down from 450 to 25 instead. The red LED is fine for preserving one's night vision and not disturbing others. I'd prefer something brighter especially if I were doing photographic work or night hunting (for which this is not not at all meant for). The battery situation is quirky. It is tri-powered meaning it has a small internal battery and runs of AAAs and of an external cellphone type battery pack. I think of the internal battery as the backup and the AAAs as the main power. The internal battery is relatively small and it doesn't kick in until a) you remove the AAAs or they die. However it can run off an external battery pack! I've tried it just as a proof of concept and it worked! Put a good battery pack in a pocket or a holster. Get a long enough USB-C cable to run to the headlamp and your good to go. Theres a YouTube video on this should that it can be done fairly elegantly instead of as a Geeky Kludge."
