"I was looking for something that had more capacity and flexibility than my Olight S1R Baton. I'll use the S1R for on-property: taking out the trash, going to the shed, not kicking the furniture, not stepping on one of the cats, etc. I live in the city. I'll use the M23 when I go off-property at night. Higher lumen output and light crenelations for self-defense. I'll use the CR18650 as primary and the RCR-123A I have for the S1R as backup, as needed. Together, I think that they make a great combo."

Olight M23
"Big improvement over my M22. My M22 is still going strong after several years of edc but this M23 is amazing. The tight beam , perfect spill and lumen output of this M23 blows away other manufactures claims of same or even greater performance. Olight has outdone the competition with the M23. Very nice holster with spare battery sleaves , nice case and accessories."

Best Work Light Ever
"Absolutely the best light I have ever owned! i am an HVAC tech and depend heavily on my flashlights. There is nothing worse than being on a late night no heat or AC call and have a light fail you. i waited an entire year to post this review, so people would have my true opinion of the M23. It is simply amazing, and possibly too bright. The beam throw on this light is crazy good. It is durable , and built well. It has been dropped off of a ladder at 12ft, dropped in snow, water. and yes even mud. It still looks and functions like new. When i purchased it, I bought two Olight RCR123A/ 700mah batteries with it. They work OK for about an hour, but when I bought an Olight 18650 / 3600mah battery for the M23, it was on! I can use the light for hours without losing my illumination in any way. The holster has 2 battery storage slots on it, and I keep an extra 18650 in the holster, but I swear I have only had to use it once in a year, and that was an 18 hour day. Olight pulled out the stops when they designed this light. I would strongly swear by this light if you are a dependent user in the service business, where having great illumination is key to being productive. On the fun side of it, this light is the best night time distance illumination device going. I can see 1/4 of a mile clearly with it! It is designed so that you can be in mode 2 and it still lights a great distance ahead. One thing that could be a problem, is that when the light is in high mode it does get hot on the heat sink section, and could melt plastic and such. it will auto dim down when it senses the heat, and come right back up when it cools a little. I know this has been long, but I appreciate it when someone can give an honest review to me, when spending a larger amount of money on a product that I am interested in. Hope this was helpful, and Hats off to Olight!"

A Real Improvement
"I liked my M22 a lot, and this is an improvement. The M23 appears to be a little brighter and the spot makes it usable at longer ranges. I can see things, on the highest power, in open areas out to 200 yards and maybe further. The tighter spot on the M23 allows me to see things at distances on the low setting that weren't clear on low, with the M22. This is handy on open space trails where I don't want to blast other people with high power, but want to see at some distance. With a tighter spot, there is still enough spill to see close areas around me. Overall, this light seems to be well built and I can't find any manufacturing flaws. I like the new wider switch and it seems to work with less pressure, especially on momentary use. All of the previous M series Olights of mine have had mode changing problems in cold weather. Sometimes, it is difficult to change to a specific light level when temperatures go into the low 40's and below. The M23 hasn't done this and I have used it below freezing several times. The holster that is included with the M23 fits perfectly and carries the light securely. It works well for a 'bump in the night' light next to the bed. The 'tactical ring' makes it usable with a syringe type handgun hold and it is workable with the new switch. The operating system is the same as the M21, M22, and others, and I like being able to use low, but have high and strobe avaible with two or three clicks. This light seems to be worth the money and I expect to use it as a primary light on daily walks and on hikes. Overall, it is a very functional light for a variety of activities."

Which is the truth?
"Is this the 1200 lumen version, or is it 1020 ? I'm looking at an ad in the magazine called RECOIL< an d it states it throws 1417 METERS. THEN, the article goes on to say it reaches out to 1400 FEET. Now, WHICH ONE IS IT? It's IDENTICAL to the light above and called the M23 Javelot. Such inconsistencies are the reason I will NOT ne ordering one today,. Someone Please get back with me if they have any clarification. . . PLEASE? lol CNK"
