SOG Aegis Mini AE21 Folding Knife
3-inch Blade with Assisted Opening Technology
The SOG Aegis Mini Folding Knife was designed with usability in mind. The SOG Assisted Technology (S.A.T.) system enables users to easily release the blade through the use of high-tension coil springs. Unlike switchblades, which are typically activated by a button-like setup, the Aegis Mini only activates when a user manually forces the blade open. Once engaged, the blade will spring open isntantly, almost as if activated automatically. It is highly recommended that users practice this process to get a feel for how quickly the knife folds open. If, for example, the blade does not open fully, it is possible that your thumb may be resting on the thumb stud for too long. Another possibility is that another finger may be blocking the blade from opening entirely. If this occurs, please make sure to utilize the thumb stud to open the knife; please avoid touching the blade itself. In addition to being easy to use, the SOG Aegis Mini also features a safety mechanism to prevent accidental opening. This lock is located on the handle and is easily switched on or off with a user's thumb. When the safety is on, the button will be green to notify a user.
This model is constructed with a durable glass-reinforced nylon handle. The 3-inch blade is made with SOG's unique Chryogenic Heat Treatment to increase overall strength and is a half inch shorter than the other Aegis models. The shorter length coupled with the unique construction reduces the Aegis Mini's weight by one third compared to the lager Aegis models. This tool packs a lot of function for its size.
