The straight edge blade is also constructed from a stainless steel that will require less maintenance than entry-level grades of steel. The SOG SlipTron EDC features a slipjoint design, which is made up of a spring bar. In other words, this folding knife does not technically have a lock; however, two hands are typically required in order to open the blade, as the user most overcome the strength of the internal spring. A Swiss Army Knife is a more commonly-known example of a slipjoint. The SOG SlipTron is therefore a great EDC for beginners and novice users, as it is less likely that the blade will accidentally open. That being said, because the slipjoint design does not technically lock the blade in place, it is not recommended to use this folding knife for heavy duty tasks.
