SOG Twitch XL Folding Knife With Straight Drop Point Blade
The Twitch Series of SOG knives stand out due to their incredible durability and their incredible performance. The Twitch XL Folding Knife is crafted using a hard-anodized aluminum alloy for the handle and AUS-8, a medium carbon high chromium stainless steel, for its long 3.25" blade. SOG tests their Twitch series knifes thoroughly before distribution to ensure the integrity of the knife. Before being released for sale, each Twitch XL Folding Knife undergoes a specialized cryogenic heat process that takes two days to complete to ensure the quality of the AUS-8 steel blade. The process consists of lowering the blade's temperature to a frigid -300°F and slowly bringing back up to room temperature, which gives the blade more edge retention, increased rigidity and an overall longer lifespan.
While the physical integrity of the knife is impressive, the Twitch XL's advantages extend much further than just the quality of its materials. The Twitch XL uses a lockback locking system to ensure the blade is securely held in place whether it is opened or closed. The knife's folding mechanism employs safe SOG Assisted Technology which uses a balance of high-tension coil springs for a more assisted opening and closing of the blade. As the knife is opened by the user, the spring force pushing the blade open becomes stronger than the force keeping it shut, thus quickly opening and locking the blade with only minor effort from the user. The blade can then be disengaged and folded closed with minimal effort by pressing the stop bar near the base of the blade.
