Color Rite Dualie is AWESOME!!!
"I recently had an opportunity to review, and put it through its paces, if you will, a new flashlight offering from Streamlight. As most folks know, especially us 'flashaholics,' Streamlight is typically on the cutting edge of the newest technology and innovation with regard to producing premium, yet well priced, flashlights and emergency equipment. Well, this new offering caught my eye and I immediately requested one to 'review. ' The item is a Streamlight Dualie 3 AA Color-Rite Flashlight; a bright-white light along with a dual option (separate or simultaneous) Color-Rite high CRI soft option; and it is a 3AA battery powered flashlight. Oh, and just FYI: this light is ATEX and IECEx-certified for use in Zone 0 locations and is Inmetro approved. Translation: TOUGH and SAFE! I have been using this light for the past two weeks; even taking it to bed each night. (Just turned 50; frequent trips to the John) I must say, the high CRI beam is awesome! Seriously, I found myself repeatedly turning it off and on to simply view things in my bedroom and out in the hallway! I'd then, of course, turn the white LED on to better understand each 'options'' strong suit and weaknesses. Well, the answer to that is actually quite simple: it is what it is and it does what it does; quite well. It functions as a well rounded flood/spill light, with the most amazing high CRI beam ideally suited for close-up and detail oriented tasks. . . . while it also provides a very decent throw/spot that is in fact quite impressive for a small'ish flashlight in its proverbial weight class. Which segways right into my overall assessment thus far, having been using it day and night, both inside and outside, etc. , The Streamlight Dualie 3AA Color-Right punches above its weight class! What about longevity? Time will tell, duh! But factor in its safety and industrial certifications, along with the fact Streamlight offers an industry leading lifetime warranty (with first rate customer service I can personally attest to) and my money is on it outlasting most of us; especially if you're over 50 like me! Oh, which reminds me (segway #2 approaching). . . Streamlight also just turned 50! HAPPY BIRTHDAY STREAMLIGHT! Lastly, I'd like to recap the basics and general functionality of this Dualie of a light: it has three different output lighting functions available; a spot beam for distance illumination; a soft, wide flood beam that can be used to shine on work areas with “true” color recognition; and a combination spot and flood beam option. And it uses common, readily available AA batteries.
