Bulky and a little clunky - but bright in all the right ways
"Three-stars because it's a bit expensive: if it were a ~$30-$35 unit, I'd have given it 4 stars. As-is, it's bright in all the right ways. The side pods offer a wide, diffusely-lit field that's perfect for expanding one's peripheral vision, be it walking around the campsite or working under one's vehicle in the garage. The focused center beam is excellent in giving older eyes the help it needs, but the way it adjusts -that you literally flex the rubbery plastic of the headlamp's frame- means that a bit more time has to be spent aiming it, versus a more traditional, hinged, setup. I do like it that there's a lock-out switch, which I use for storage, but its location inside the rear battery holder is a bit clunky in terms of actuation. For me, this dropped the review down one more star."
