"Nothing beats the HEFT of an old 5 cell Maglite, but todays super white beams put the incandescent, weak, yellow light to shame. Finally took my 3 and 5 cell Maglites out of the closet and for under $20. 00 refitted them. Took the dog for a walk last night and spotted a herd of deer waaay on the east end of the orange groves. Don't settle for 'new' plastic junk. Worth the $$. WRL"
"I bought this for my 6 d cell Maglite, which ive had for a long time. While reasonably bright, it stayed in a drawer and was not my go to light. With the led bulb, much brighter! Between the cooler color and the lumens it puts out, it is much more useful to me. Given what new Maglites cost, I think this is a worthwhile investment."

"Put this in 'Betsy' My 6 cell red Mag-lite. Ive had her for many many years and she just sits in the back of the closet without batteries now that I have all these new fangled LEDs. When I saw this I just jumped to get it for her!! Wow, not really impressed at all!! she may last longer but there isn't enough light to bother. My single cell 18650 $5 mail order lights just blow her away. Back in the closet she went. Perhaps some day there will be a cost effective LED upgrade."
