"I bought this charger for two reasons. 1. We use 24 AA cells that I try to recharge as a group. This charger can accommodate a large number of cells, cutting down the need for constant monitoring on my part. 2. The advertisement on the Battery Junction web site mentions the ability to discharge the cells (4 at a time) and thus prolong their lifetime. I'm not sure discharging the cells accomplishes a longer lifetime. In my attempts, it points out cells that must be discarded. The charger easily satisfies my first reason. It is convenient to use. As cells get fully charged, I can remove them and put in more cells in need of charging. Overall, I'm satisfied with it."
