"I love these amazing collapsible lanterns so much, I not only purchased another 2 for my home, I ordered & had delivered one to each of my 4 family members, across the USA. As you can see in my photos, there're 3 brightness levels, High/Low/Amber, the collapsible dome is very easy to pull up due to a small rubberized tab, to lower, just gently push it down, the light works perfectly with the dome collapsed or extended, just depends on how much light is needed. I also love the hidden hanging handle, with open/close hook, which neatly folds into the bottom of the lantern, allowing it to sit flat on a surface. 100 Lumens might not seem like much but with the dome extended, you will be amazed at just how much useable light there really is. Just 3 x AA batteries, un-screw the bottom, amazing ! Please note, in order to power on the lantern, you must push in & hold in the power button for 3 seconds, once on High, push again for low, push again for Amber, it will repeat the 3 brightness levels as long as you keep pressing the power button, to power off, push and hold the power button for 3-4 seconds, you will never need to worry about this lantern being turned on by accident, a great fail-safe ! After the light is turned off, the dome will glow green, diminishing in a few minutes, a nice feature if trying to maneuver back to your sleeping area. The Amber setting, would also make a very nice night light."
