So I've been using this light for about eight months now. I had a similar light from another manufacturer but it stopped working after taking a 6 foot tumble onto concrete. I don't know for sure if this one would have survived or not, but it seems like it might be a little more... resilient thanks to the poly-carbonate body. It does everything it says it does, so that's great. The only faults that I can find are that it has a parasitic drain on the battery and that the switch is easily activated by accident when it's in your pocket. So, when I'm at work (building maintenance) I carry the light in a semi-rigid belt pouch and have a couple of spare batteries ready. If Fenix could fix those two issues, and maybe allow the usage of unprotected cells, the light would be perfect.

I initially bought this as a gift for my brother who is a quality inspector on 2 of our nations rocket programs. I was so impressed with it that I bought one as a Christmas gift for my diesel mechanic son-in-law and got one in my stocking from my wife for myself. Score! There is a lot of tech and good engineering built into this torch. A double tap on the switch locks out the light to prevent an inadvertent on trigger of the light if it’s in a bag with other tools. An indicator light with 4 leds to tell you the state of charge as well as a MAGNETIC charging cord with its own 2 indicators that go from red & yellow to green. It also retains the last setting when you turn it back on. The magnetic base of the light is pretty strong and will hold the light in any position when affixed to a fairly flat ferrous metal surface. I take meticulous care of all my tools but the real test will be my son-in-law. If this Felix model holds up to him…then it’s a real testament to this things toughness. But then again Felix will fix the light for up to 5 years! I’ve never had a single issue with any of my flashlights from Fenix and currently have 4.
